Cook Almost Didn't Return For "Criminal Minds: Evolution" Without Matthew Gray Gubler". BuzzFeed. Criminal Mindsfans, it looks like we aren't the only ones feeling the absence of Matthew Gray Gubler these days. As it turns out, his former co-star A.J. Cook has been thinking about him.

Gubler was born on March 9, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father, John Gubler, is an attorney, and his mother, Marilyn Kelch Gubler, is a rancher, political consultant, and former chair of the Nevada Republican Party. Gubler attended the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts and majored in drama. However, he says that he had no intention of becoming an actor — he merely thought that theater class was fun and that acting might help him develop public speaking skills that would be useful in another career. "My friends and I joked that our major at the academy was Acting Not As an Occupation 101," he remembered. "I thought it would help me become a lawyer or something, help me speak in public. That's how I looked at that school." Gubler is at home in this new nook of his artistic world, even as he questions the label. “I take it as a great compliment that people think of me as a children’s book writer,” he says. “But I’ve never really thought of my books as kids’ books; they’re less ‘books for young readers’ and more ‘books for young hearts.’” This is especially true, he says, for Little Kid. “Kids already know the message. It’s the adults who may have forgotten it. So this one’s for kids to read to their parents.”Wajnapel, Laetitia (21 October 2009). The only sadness I have about this book is that I haven’t managed to find a signed copy yet. I missed out on the Rumple Buttercup signed copies so started looking early for Big Green Hand ones. If I could have made it to America in time, I would have found my way to the book tour. To try and claim a signed copy of the book, of course. But also to see one of the best cars ever! Speaking of Matthew's own approach to life and art, he's particularly vocal about how hands-on he is with the publishing process, even when the story is done.

Despite the venture into book writing, there's still one question still remains on fans' minds. Does Matthew ever plan on returning to acting (and subsequently, directing)? If Matthew has his way, there's a chance you'll see him onscreen at some point. With that in mind, Matthew has used the book to create new connections with the help of his Big Green Hand Tour. As he travels across the country in a green Volkswagen bug with a big hand on the roof, he gets to see people light up as he delivers copies of his latest work. To me, the best thing you can give someone is a personal gift, like a hand drawn card," he said. "With everything, from the books to directing and even my acting, I want people to feel the human touch and know that it was made for them by a person who loves them ... What it gives to people, hopefully, is an entirely homemade gift from my heart."
