Brittany’s story was one that drew me in, big-time. So many of us can relate to the pull of privilege and the alluring unknown. Coming with her on the journey as she entered the world of yachts, waterfront villas, and personal assistants was positively exhilarating. Her ultimate dilemma of what to do once essentially trapped inside Jonny’s riches was downright haunting. Brittany-Rae is tired of serving others. She's determined not to struggle like her parents did. As a flight attendant, she's seen the way the super-wealthy float, untouchable and easy, and she envies it. As a model in her 20s, she had a taste of that privilege. Now pushing 40, she knows that to have one kind of freedom, she must sacrifice another. I think the character of Jonny was essential in this book, but that doesn't mean that he was likable. - gaylamath Kemi seems to make a spur-of-the-moment choice to move to Sweden. Why do you think she did this? How did her sister’s opinion factor into her decision? As seen in Vulture, Essence, Good Morning America, The Independent, Goodreads, PureWow, and many more!

That is mostly what drew me in as a reader, as well as the idea of three women who are all in some way related to this powerful exec.Kemi seems to make a spur-of-the-moment choice to move to Sweden. Why do you think she did this? How did her sister's opinion factor into her decision? That was simply not meant to be ; it was plain hostile and it really pushed the narrative that women generally do not like each other and for me that was a problem. Considering Muna and the other two girls Yasmiin and Kadija were all broken I expected that they’d be some sort of refuge for each other; but no

It’s been a long time since I’ve been so thoroughly engrossed in a book. I ended up finishing it in just a few days because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I stole every moment possible (between my teaching job, running this blog, and parenting young kids) to find out what happened next! The colorful cover of the novel.I'm tempted to be mean and leave a spoiler for those who don't want to waste their time but I RESPECT readers too much to do that.
