I recently started to digitize some of my records for listening on the go and noticed a significant roll off of the high end frequencies when I look at the waveform. I am privileged to be the owner of a Technics SL-1200MK2 that I bought used from the original owner. None of my local brick-and-mortar audio dealers carry Nagaoka, so I bought mine from turntableneedles. Happy to recommend the Nagaoka MP110 for standard Techncis headshell, using standard Techncis wires, on a standard Technics arm. I listen to a lot of different records and I am extremely sensitive to inner groove distortion and sibilance. The bass was more detailed now even though the midbass still retained some of the softness I mentioned at the beginning but had proper dynamics . If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag.The MP110 boasts precise groove tracking, which is critical in maintaining the integrity of your vinyl. The precise tracking not only maintains the integrity of your precious vinyl but also guarantees an optimal listening experience. What does that read, then add that to what your receiver's service manual states is the phono preamp's capacitance. Be aware that, with the finer profile of a MicroLine, you'll need to ensure that your records are very clean (otherwise the stylus will dig dirt from the bottom of the grooves, leading to higher surface noise, distortion and premature wear of the stylus). It tracks excellently and there's significantly less surface noise than with my Denon DL110 and Audio Technica AT95e.

The Schiit Mani and ART DJ pre II are temping, however they only have capacitance and gain adjustments.the Nagaoka MP-110, floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee~Muhammad Ali, has risen to the occasion, making itself right at home in my new and, shall we say, better system. In some ways this may be even better than my beloved AR turntable due to a heavier platter and beefier construction. Only a few minutes and I believe you two have potentially answered the question that has been bugging me. Whether you’re listening to a symphony or a rock concert, the rich, multi-layered sound will impress you every time.

The Ortofon, or its cheaper “red” variant is often factory fitted to mid range turntables, or recommended as a first upgrade. It came with a Ortofon 2m red which in general sounded good but I did not like the inner groove distortion that I was hearing. The AT VM-95E is also fine, but can't track the innere grooves as good as the ML and furthermore the ML sounds more detailed. Tracking and bass impact are exceptional and the music has an effortless ebb and flow no matter if you are listening to classic rock or pure classical, with everything in-between.

After I got the alignment set right, I was impressed to hear only a minimal amount of sibilance at the end of a few older troublesome records I own. The muffsy will be the most expensive option but I am hoping after burning myself and lots of cussing, it will be the most rewarding. Conicals and cheap ellipticals are fine for old jazz records, tamely cut music from the 50s and 60s, even audiophile reissues of such. So while it may not have been your recommendation, I “went back” and never missed either of those AT95s for a second.
