Although that’s not quite as far back as Medieval times, if we look at what LEGO has done with 21325 in comparison to 3739 we can see just how far the medium has come in the last two decades. There are a couple of hang-ups to address that are trickier to be subjective about: the overhanging structure on the second level is pretty fragile during its construction, for example, while some of the colour differences in the instruction manual can be difficult to make out, despite the welcome move away from black paper. The carriage comes with an additional shield, a plastic molded bag, and a lantern attached to the carriage. Disclaimer: This comment is a work of satire, the set looks great and I just wish I had the funds for it.

I found the yellow outlines in the instructions caused me as much confusion as clarity in where the parts to be added should go. The horse can either be attached to the carriage or you can add in a brick and tile to fill up the space so the horse doesn’t look too weird with the carriage attached. Set includes a medieval PLAYMOBIL house, a blacksmith, a soldier, forge furnace, hammer and anvil and many other exciting extras. The wall is adorned in the Praetorian Guard shoulder amour from Star Wars in silver, and the heavy load door is brick-built with printed wood detailing.Combine the forge with other sets from the PLAYMOBIL History series (70953, 70954, 70957, 70958 - sold separately), to build your own medieval town. Other features include a glowing forge with a LEGO light brick, plus a garden with buildable models of an apple tree and a well. The roofline is not straight, but rather have a slight bend to the roof which is achieved using towball joints. It may be the largest castle-themed set to date, but the colours and design aesthetics mean it won’t look too odd next to the rest of your collection, and nor would it contrast too heavily with any forthcoming Castle line that may (or may not) be in the works – particularly given a wider theme would likely need to appeal to a younger subset of fans.

Most interior and exterior decor was a riot of colour, and I’m pleased to see this represented in the build. These throwback sets to the days when I was a kid are truly special and hold a real place in my heart as a builder and Lego fan. I had initially assumed that the green on the roof was copper that had suffered from verdigris, turning it green.To adequately hold the workpiece still, you will need tongs (of which there are a vast array), clamps, vises and jigs.

On the previous side, you add in the chimney which is in line with the stove on the second floor and blacksmith area on the first floor.

As an 18+ set, I don’t think most adults like the play feature of being able to turn the light on and off. I know they don't really make themes out of ideas sets, but people have been crying out for a medieval theme for forever. An anvil is provided for the smith to carry out work outside, and he's currently working on a longsword which is being heated up in the hot coals. This updated torso looks superb and is far more detailed than the original, as you would expect after 35 years. As with all the best LEGO sets, it uses its bricks as an artistic medium to paint a picture, to tell a story, and to bring you into its world.Last year I complained that we had no good pirate sets, and within a week they released Barracuda Bay. I’m not a fan of building foliage, but the tree still looks unique enough to be an interesting build. Concerning the horse coat, my guess would be that the designers chose that color thinking of the dun coat of some rustic breeds such as the Fjord or the Henson.
