OVERTON – An hour north of Vegas, the Muddy Mountains WIlderness Area is part of the 100 million acre National Wilderness Preservation System is a striking landscape, but also provides clean air, water, habitat for rare and endangered plants and animals. This region of shadowy slot canyons, mind-bending geological formations and expansive views of Lake Mead is unique because it is under the watchful eye of both the National Parks Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Solitude and silence are common throughout the 48,154 acres of narrow canyons and gravelly washes found inside Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Muddy Mountains WIlderness Area is part of the 100 million acre National Wilderness Preservation System, which provides clean air, water, habitat for rare and endangered plants and animals.

Genoa Western Heritage Days

April 26-28 – Located in the heart of Nevada’s Oldest Establishment, saddle up and head for a weekend of Cowboy Poets, live music, and more. The festival kicks off with an opening concert on Friday evening at the Genoa Town Hall. Saturday bustles with fun for the entire family, including Native American demonstrations, music and entertainment, animal demonstrations, Chautauqua performances and food. There is another concert on Saturday evening and the event winds up with the Cowboy Church on Sunday morning. Daytime events are free and the evening concerts are ticketed.

Carnival in the Clouds

May 18/North Las Vegas – Noon to 4 p.m. at Craig Ranch Park.  Families and thrill seekers of all ages are invited to enjoy an exciting afternoon of aerial acrobatics performed by professional drone experts, plus classic carnival games, interactive STEM activities, food, live entertainment—and a chance to win a year’s supply of Chick-fil-A—at Miracle Flights’ inaugural community drone festival, Carnival in the Clouds. Admission to the carnival is free, with proceeds from $1 carnival games, raffle tickets and select food and beverage sales going to support Miracle Flights.  Event attendees can try their own hand flying drones in the carnival’s designated STEM Zone.
