Fall is one of the best times to explore the outdoors in Morgan County. Check out one of Indiana’s newest State Forests at Ravinia State Forest, or explore the trails at Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Old Town Waverly Park offers river access and wide-open spaces to play in and don’t forget Burkhart Creek Park with creek access, prairie grasses, trails, and picnic areas! Be sure to check out our favorite paved trails if you’re traveling with a stroller or just prefer to walk on a smoother surface.
Drink at the Creek Concerts
Cedar Creek Winery, Brewery and Distillery is still rockin’ Morgan County with the hottest (and longest) concert series of the year! The Drink at the Creek Concert Series brings you live music from more than 30 popular performers in a wide variety of musical styles. Admission costs remain affordable at $10-20 per show. Labor Day Weekend will be a big one, with the two-day Country Rockin’ Blues Fest event. Please note that social distancing guidelines are in effect for these events and attendees should have a mask with them for standing in line and going inside the winery, brewery, and distillery.
Fall at Anderson Orchard
Anderson Orchard, a Morgan County tradition for 50+ years, is open and waiting for you to stop in for a taste of fall! Enjoy caramel apples, cider slushes, and more from the concession stand. The orchard store carries fresh local produce, plus you can pick your own apples or raspberries, and don’t forget about their annual events – the Apple Festival and Craft Fair is the last weekend in September and the Kid-Friendly Octoberfest is the first weekend in October. Be sure to plan an outing to the pumpkin patch in October as well! (Bring your camera – this is a great place for family photos!)
Fall Flavors and Festivals
Check out our favorite flavors of fall and get ready to enjoy the beautiful colors as the leaves change all over Morgan County. Home to two state forests and the vast majority of the tree canopy of Central Indiana, just about any road you choose offers beautiful scenic views this time of year. Unfortunately, many of our fall festivals have been canceled due to the current pandemic, but there are a few who have created plans with the local health department with your health and safety in mind, including the Paragon Homecoming Festival, the Old Town Waverly Park Festival, and The Haunting of Waverly. Check for info on your favorite fall festivals on our Festival Status Update list to see what their status is for this year.
Downtown Cruise-ins & Shop the Square Events
Downtown Martinsville is the home of the weekly Cruise-in on the Square event that brings out a wide variety of fun vehicles. Browse the cars on display and enjoy talking with the owners from 5 to 9 pm every Thursday through the end of October. If you’re lucky enough to be downtown on the third Thursday of the month, check out what locally owned downtown businesses have to offer! The Third Thursday Shop the Square events have a different theme each month and it’s a great reason to enjoy dinner out in one of the area’s local eateries!
