I guess we can consider ourselves fortunate that the old standby we have all loved for years comes out last in a blind test.

Jjapaghetti was the first instant noodle in Korea that resembled the taste of Jjajangmyeon (Black Bean Noodles). There’s something weirdly special about drizzling it into the saucepan, like you’re adding a special garnish. In the past, and probably still the case at many restaurants, chunjang was fried in pork fat as a flavoring, so there’s your option if you want to try! Normally, to make Jjajangmyeon, you need to first find Chunjang (black bean paste) and fry it in a small layer of oil ( traditional recipe here). It originated in Incheon, Korea where Chinese migrant workers started making zhajiangmian (noodles served with fried bean sauce) in the late 19th century.
