About this deal

We’ve all been there, those of us who have children but even those who don’t can understand some of Serena’s hilarious embarrassing moments. Then immediately follows that up by saying { she would report it but unlike the other women in the office she has kids to worry about and cant afford to lose her job} because the other women in the office can afford to lose their jobs? As a mammy banter follower, that is what attracted me to the book because Serena is so funny with her reels and tells it like it is. This was a quick, easy to read, hard to put down, hilarious and heartwarming look at life after children. I loved the premise and the main character finding to love herself more while realizing sometimes things are better as they are.

I don't think it's something I'd read again but I did get a couple laughs and some heartfelt moments from this book. Serena made the decision to quit as chief operations officer at the tech company she worked for in Derry once the TikTok channel achieved relative success. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. And I think that is the message behind this book, in what is a very “𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵” climate, we are all just muddling our way through life, one day at a time, and it’s perfectly OK to not have everything under control, all of the time - because the internet 𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦 - and 𝗻𝗼-𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁! Serena Terry did a fantastic job describing what real mom life is like, the ups, downs, happy, sad, gross and hilarious aspects of daily life. I think a mothers fear of being uncool and losing herself is one many can relate to and I love how no matter what, whether your grumpy daughter makes you feel bad or something happens with your work, your undying love for the things you value is always there and you fight for them. I will say that this book had one huge trigger warning that I wish I would have known about, and that was ageism. She's going to show her teenage daughter she's still cool, show her husband she's still a catch and show her colleagues she's still a 'Boss Bish'.

From her viral Tik Toks, to her books Serena Terry aka Mammy Banter tells us her real life mummyhood stories in a hilarious fashion. To read Tara going weak at the knees for Luke while still adamant she loves Paul was beyond annoying. All in all this was a fun and fluffy read that I very much enjoyed for what it was, I have also seen there is a sequel, “The Shite Before Christmas”, that also follows Tara and her tribe so I will definitely be reading that! It is a bit confusing with the derry/Irish words, but there is a little reference to these words at the end of the book (which I didn't notice until the end) so I just kind of read these words and didn't completely understand what it meant. She has over 2 million followers across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, with more than 35 million views across all platforms. I enjoyed this read-no I didn't love it, and it won't become a comfort read, but I very well will most likely pull this out one more time and give it a re-read.

The Secret Life of an Uncool Mum by Serena Terry - Waterstones

Loved how there are a few chapters of her next book at the end and i can not wait to read that when its out! It is obviously well written, you find yourself instantly in the middle of this chaotic, messy, busy and unpredictable family life. Some of the most enjoyable parts of this novel was when Tara stood up for herself in work after events occur she manages to get her own back. Keen to maintain a work-life balance, Serena has even taken advice from her fictional creation Tara, in taking time out for herself and building new friendships.I want to say that this book is bad ass but unfortunately here are just a few problems I had with it. I loved seeing these two boys team up, I can already smell there is going to be even more trouble when Jax is really able to walk and run and do everything. As a matter of fact, she takes a beating over almost anything, but the biggest issue is she gives herself the most extensive beatings.
