Hi, this tray is great either in a seat or sitting in bed, the small circular hole is too narrow for any of my flasks I have for my coffee and is too deep for using as a pencil/pen holder until I folded up some paper and stuck it into the hole, now it’sa great pencil/pen holder lol. It could be useful for someone convalescing - they could put their phone, tv remote etc in the compartments, or even by chidren doing their homework.The tray is lightweight and it comes with a handle, making it easy and convenient to carry if you decide you want a change of view. I colour most evenings and it is so handy to have because I have the pockets to put my colouring pencils, rubbers, sharpeners etc in. It's not totally rigid so won't hold heavy items, like a die cutter, but I'd use that on a table anyway.
