I have really neglected reading new adult romance, and this year one of my reading goals was to read more of this sub-genre the minute I saw that this book was being released this week, I was highly intrigued and I knew that it was one that I needed to have. There’s so much more to Zeke than just what people see and I loved how we got to peel back each layer slowly and see him for who he is. It really pulled at my heartstrings how much her words would hurt him… but I really respected him for confronting her about it in a reasonable timeframe… so I let it slide in the moment. I was two seconds away from knocking my fist back and socking Kyle in the nose Helga Pataki style when he was ripped backward by his t-shirt, and Zeke caught him just before his back slammed into the lockers. A beautiful but heartbreaking in parts love story between Zeke and Riley who have known each other for years as he’s her twins best friend, an accident tears them apart and this friends to enemies to lovers book is about acceptance and forgiveness and football. The Kings of the Ice series is a series of interconnected standalones following a team of professional hockey players and the women who bring them to their knees. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?
Fair Catch by Kandi Steiner | Waterstones
While this story starts out in a serious vein, for the most part, this is a light, fun, and super swoony story. But despite the fact that Riley hates Zeke, he helps her with the team and fights for her and knows her abilities, and understands what she can bring to the team. Zeke, Riley, and Gavin all go to the same college their freshman year and Riley and Zeke get a little closer than Riley wants. Though Riley struggles with forgiveness and makes some snap judgment in the story, Kandi always humanizes her- this is a young woman figuring out how to navigate unusual situations, with her own head and heart in constant battle. Riley wants nothing to do with Zeke, but that's not possible when they're playing on the same team together and end up living together as roommates.
Riley blamed her brother’s best friend Zeke for the accident and has hated him for the damage done to her brother and her family. I completely see why Riley wants to hurt and ignore Zeke, because he hurt her and I loved that it took her a long time to really come to terms with him as a person. Zeke and Riley were straight up enemies to lovers and brother’s best friend per-freaking-fection and I did not want to see their story end. About The Book Wedding Day Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right).
