About this deal

All of the materials used for construction are solid and of excellent quality; this speaker does not feel cheap in any way. In the front of the JBL PartyBox, 710 are two giant 8-inch woofers, and two 2.75-inch tweeters flanked by LED light strips and LED lights scattered inside the speaker grille. The JBL logo is placed center and is not gaudy or overbearing. This is done via the JBL PartyBox app, which is available for Apple iOS and Google Android and can also be used for further configurations of the JBL PartyBox 710. Light show must not be missing Outside of the thumping bass, the music sounds fantastic. It’s clean and clear, you can hear each instrument as well as every lyric, and it’s got tonnes of energy to it as well. It’s a party speaker through and through. It comes with a 2m power cable to plug it in, and when you do, you’re in for a treat. Below the speaker grille, there’s a colourful RGB light show that will literally wow you when you first see it. I sat and watched it for a while, it’s mesmerising. Two joined up circles of flashing and strobing lights illuminate the room and they dance along to the music. It’s really cool.

JBL PartyBox 710 Bluetooth Megasound Party Speaker - Currys

In principle, one could of course also speak of a Bluetooth speaker with the new JBL PartyBox 710, after all, Bluetooth is also used here as the primary signal transmission, for example from a smartphone. That all adds up to 1100 watts of face melting power – that stays clean and distortion free, even at max volume. (That can’t be said for other brands I’ve tried.) Like most of JBL’s Bluetooth speakers, the JBL PartyBox 710 is straightforward to use. You don’t need the app for the 710 to work, but pairing it with the app gives you the best experience and provides software updates. Using this without the app setup is as simple as powering the 710 on and pushing the Bluetooth button.

Bluetooth pairing makes it easy to wirelessly connect-up your smartphone, tablet or laptop. From a simple playlist stream from your smartphone to a fully mixed, pro set-up streamed from a laptop, Bluetooth keeps the connection wire-free. Lights, music, party! The JBL PartyBox 710 makes the difference between a good party and an unforgettable one. So sound signature wise, the 710 has your standard Partybox sound signature of strong mids and highs so that vocals are well defined and the bass comes in when it has to. Now regarding the bass boost feature… like I mentioned earlier, if you’re going to use this speaker indoors I think it sounds perfectly fine with bass boost turned off. And trust me there is way more than enough bass. However if you turn on bass boost, you’re going to notice that the 710 really only increases the physicality in your bass. The mids and highs stay relatively untouched. Overall, when you turn on the bass boost on this speaker… you’re really turning on your earthquake machine. Cause the physicality you get out of this speaker is insane. And when it comes to max volume… this thing gets disgusting loud. Personally I feel that for indoor use 25% to 38% volume is going to be more than enough. And for outdoor use, I don’t think you’re going to need to go past 60% volume. Any higher and you’re most likely going to get a visit from the cops. Personally I really feel that this speaker is overkill for personal use. Especially for indoor use.

Then there is the light show – and even though the 710 isn’t a full panel light show, I like it better than the 1000’s. It has more strobe functions, including colored strobes, and feels like it projects more of a club vibe than that of the 1000. Neither the 710 nor the 1000 have batteries, so neither can be considered true “portable” speakers however both have wheels and handles, and can be fairly easily moved from one place to the next. But now lets talk about tech specs. When the 710 was first announced I assumed that it had a built in battery just given JBL’s past naming structure. Partybox’s that started with an odd number like the Partybox 100, 110, 300 and 310 all had built in batteries… and partybox’s that started with an even number didn’t have a built in battery like the Partybox 200 and 1000. But unfortunately the Partybox 710 doesn’t have a built in battery. You can only use while its plugged in. And you’ll might want t get an extension cord cause the included cable that you get with this speaker isn’t super long. If you want a light show and incredibly powerful sound then there isn’t anything else like the JBL Partybox 710. JBL does sell smaller versions of the speaker like the JBL Partybox 310.
