We meet Cady (Violet McGraw) as we witness a devastating accident that takes the lives of her parents. She’s summarily sent to live with her aunt, Gemma (Allison Williams), someone responsible for creating a “Furby-like” toy that’s the talk of the town. Gemma has some issues at work, namely trying to keep her boss (Ronny Chieng) happy. She’s also woefully unequipped to fill the role of mother. But her newest invention, M3GAN (Model 3 Generative Android) looks like a real girl and has the ability to learn from its user. Gemma “pairs” it with Cady which leads to a tight bond between the two. Gemma then uses this attachment to sell the idea to her boss who only sees dollar signs. All is well, though as the bond between the two strengthens, we see a side of M3GAN that might jeopardize the entire project. M3GAN finds some value in exploring the personalized dangers of A.I. in the home run amok. The film feels eerily plausible in 2023 given the Theatrical/Unrated Cut– Both cuts of the movie are included with the unrated cut being, wait for it…6 seconds longer than the theatrical version. Now it's time for the Unrated Edition Ted Talk. This Unrated version of M3GAN is not the ultimate 30-minute longer cut of the film, as Midsommar gifted us. This is about 90 seconds or so longer of more blood, guts, and foul language. The hilarious Ronny Chieng delivers several four-letter f-words and the titular robotic maniac utters one that enhances her tenacious ferocity. The death scenes are the same, but most add a few seconds of gore with some extended nastiness, such as the ear-pull, the power-washer face melter, and more. The theatrical cut is wonderful but these added few seconds of depravity and language really drive home the high entertainment value of the fun horror this movie really is about. Before, the film would cut away too soon, but here, it allows for all the red drippings to be viewed, even if it's short-lived.I agree with the review of movie itself...and of course (like most modern movies), they have to throw something in at the end to let you know a sequel is possible.

Fortunately this is one of those cases where the movie in question isn't actually legions below True Lies and The Abyss. A lot of the time nowadays (well over 80%), the titles where we play the True Lies/The Abyss card are well deserving of it. This isn't one of those titles.
