About this deal

With the notable exception of 10194 Emerald Night, LEGO trains tend to look like toys and not the sort of thing that many people would want to display in their living room." The set, the latest in LEGO's new 'Adults Welcome' 18+ series, comes in a box that certainly has a very mature feel to it, almost to the point of looking drab. I'm not sure that visitors to a LEGO store who are not specifically looking for it would be attracted to it, to be honest. This is also the first train to have the new "large train wheels", four of them moulded with a flange and two of them moulded blind. The flanged wheels include a rubber band for traction when the Power Functions motor is installed. The blind wheels are made so the train can navigate standard LEGO curves.

The Emerald Night instructions show you how to add the Power Function motor, IR receiver and battery box. Powered UP may be the better way to go if you don't already have Power Functions. Substitute the PU hub and motor in place of the PF parts.Thank you for showing how the 7-wide ends are constructed! These 3x3 plates sure are a godsend, aren't they? Designer Pierre Normandin has done a commendable job of producing something that not only looks good, but which can also be used as a regular LEGO train, on LEGO's ridiculously tight curves and points, should you wish. Personally I think it looks a bit daft when traversing them, but it's good that it's possible.

To be fair, and I'm not saying that it never happens, but on a few occasions that I am aware of, TLG was already working on a similar set on its own before the corresponding Ideas submission, and consequently doesn't approve it in the review stage. Chances are good that this specific set was already worked on in 2017. Richard Stollery (1 October 2007). "Lego 9V Train Communication". Lego Group . Retrieved 13 January 2009. Of course, AFOLs have built bigger and arguably more accurate and detailed models of this, and many other iconic locomotives, but I think this one strikes just the right balance between size and practicality.

Personally I think after 12v and 9v they tried to get away from the "special use parts" and more toward parts that can build any type of model/design Fill out an Inventory Change Request ( ?) [ Show Inv Item IDs ] if you found an error in this inventory. I'm just surprised that Lego has decided on this particular locomotive as the "next big thing" . While it's appealing to the European market, an American or a Chinese train might have been a better money maker."
