About this deal

So, I celebrate the “balls” of J.M. DeMatteis of choosing of a kinda minor villain like Kraven, the Hunter as the focus of this powerful story. Kraven dons a copy of Spider-Man's costume to prove himself superior at his adversary's former activities. The city takes notice as Kraven brutalizes and kills criminals. Kraven culminates his crusade with the unarmed capture of the cannibal Vermin, who Spider-Man needed the help of Captain America to defeat.

The story took place in Web of Spider-Man issues #31 and 32, The Amazing Spider-Man issues #293 and 294 and finally, Spectacular Spider-Man issues #131 and 132. The most immediate consequence of "Kraven's Last Hunt" was the death of Kraven for over 20 years of comic book storytelling in the main Marvel Universe. In the interim, Kraven's children would attempt to take on the mantle left vacant by their father and seek revenge on Spider-Man for being involved in his suicide. Mysterio would later cite Kraven's final victory over Spider-Man as the inspiration behind his own insidious plot in Kevin Smith, Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti's Daredevil storyline "Guardian Devil."The last one worth reading is “Hunting The Hunter,” which was surprisingly decent. It’s Kaine vs Kraven.

Kraven's Last Hunt, or Fearful Symmetry, is a 1987 Bat Family Crossover between various Spider-Man titles regarding his last battle with Kraven the Hunter. It spans Web of Spider-Man #31-32, The Amazing Spider-Man #293-294 and The Spectacular Spider-Man #131-132. This is the first event title in Spider-Man's publication history, and the first time a single story carried across all the books. While the story of “Kraven’s Last Hunt” has become one of the definitive modern Spider-Man stories, it wasn’t always meant to star Peter Parker.

And if you think that in the mix, DeMatteis include Vermin to the formula, you could be sure that something unique will be done. Spider-Man catches up with Vermin and lures him above ground, where sensory overload renders Vermin helpless. Spider-Man turns Vermin over to the police and vows to get him help from Reed Richards. Kraven’s vendetta against Spider-Man, his mad inner ramblings, his drug-induced hallucinations, and his reflection on his mother’s insanity reveal that the tragic villain suffered from mental illness. And while it’s never shown in any real-world clinical terms, it’s easy to see that Kraven may be suffering from manic-depression, driving him into utterly despairing lows and dizzying highs. Instead of seeing his death as some sort of mythical rest, we should see it as a tragic end to a man driven by demons. And seek out support when we feel at our lowest. For Kraven, defeating Spider-Man and proving that he was worthy of taking the mantle of a great, mythic beast was the last reason to live. After years of mental anguish and with his last, madness-propelled desire attained, Kraven takes his own life.In “The Brothers Karamazov,” Dostoyevsky writes, “The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” And this fearful symmetry also leads us to Spider-Man as a symbol of what we should be – brave in the face of death and still willing to show mercy and love even when confronted by the worst life can throw at us. The first three issues heavily use conflicting voiceovers that juxtapose one another and slowly blend together to create a feverish, frenzied rhythm. These display the deepest, darkest fears of the lead characters and when blended together, hint at something supernatural tying their hearts and minds to one another.
