Over the last few weeks, I’ve been testing Zhiyun’s Weebill 3, a gimbal targeting the same market as the DJI RSC 2. It brings some interesting and different features to the table compared to the DJI gimbal. Moreover, Zhiyun Smooth 4 has the PhoneGo mode when you need instant scene transition. Its top-grade plastic build quality and a solid frame are other things I really liked about this gimbal stabilizer, especially given the fact that it belongs to a low-tier price point category.

There are two different types of gimbals – two-axis stabilizers and three-axis stabilizers. Two-axis gimbals stabilize your Tilt and Roll, and three-axis gimbals stabilize your Pan. DJI’s Ronin SC is a slightly older model, but is still a great option for stabilizing small mirrorless rigs. DJI lists the payload as about 4.4lbs, which in practical terms means it can support Sony a7, Canon EOS R, or Nikon Z cameras with either f/4 zooms or typical primes. You will save money on 2-axis Gimbals if you use them. They are lighter and smaller than 3-axis Gimbals. If you’ve got filming experience, getting the camera stabilized on the gimbal will be second nature, but adjusting the riser plate and properly balancing the camera lens will take some getting used to for newbies. While the markers for weight and lens positioning are clear, this gimbal isn’t necessarily the best for beginners. It’s geared toward those looking to take their video production to the next level.
