About this deal

Keep in mind that while chemicals like bleach can damage your hair, many of the at-home methods may also dry your hair out or temporarily affect its condition. Use a deep conditioner to keep your hair moisturized and manageable. This is especially true if you plan to follow a method more than once to achieve more highlights over time. There are a few things to consider when choosing a hair lightener. The first is the type of hair lightener. There are two types: chemical and natural. Chemical lighteners use harsh chemicals to lighten hair while natural lighteners use ingredients like lemon juice or honey. The second thing to consider is the tone of the lightener. There are three main tones: cool, warm, and neutral. Cool lighteners have a blue undertone and tend to be more popular among people with darker hair. Warm lighteners have a yellow undertone and are more popular among people with lighter hair. Neutral lighteners are for people who want to avoid the cool or warm tones. The third thing to consider is the brand. Some brands are more popular than others and some are more affordable. Hair lightener lightens your natural or artificial hair color. Bleaching is one way of hair lightening.

The best way to prepare hair for bleaching is to avoid heat styling or chemical treatments for a week prior, to ensure the hair is in a fairly natural state. You'll also want to moisturize ahead of time, as bleaching is an incredibly drying process. As for whether hair should be clean or dirty prior to bleaching, that is up for debate—though most stylists agree it's best not to wash your hair for a day or two prior, to ensure your natural oils are intact before stripping the hair. For every colour you will also need a developer. Before choosing a developer, you have to know by how many levels you want to lighten your hair. This is because the level of lift is closely connected to the concentration of hydrogen peroxide used. In general: The higher the percentage, the faster the bleaching, but the greater the damage to the hair too! Most stylists thus recommend using a 3% or 6% developer. The lightening process will take longer, but it won’t be so harmful as when using stronger concentrations of peroxide. If in doubt, choose the 6% developer, which is the most used one and the best option in terms of efficiency and gentle treatment. Remember: the strongest developer you can apply to your scalp is 9%.

Then proceed to the front parts and finally to the hair around the face, where the hair is the most damaged and the softest, and therefore lighten the fastest. Be also aware that anytime you decide to lighten your hair, you will always fight warm tones. It is therefore extremely important to watch the exact time during bleaching. If you wash the colour out too early, it can leave a reddish or yellowish tinge in your hair, as the bleaching process starts from red through yellow to the final blonde (see picture below). Combine ingredients in a spray bottle. Apply to hair, concentrating on root areas. Let dry for a few hours in the sun. Rinse and condition your hair. You may also use lemon vodka in place of the lemon juice for more dramatic results.

Bleaching - allows lightening already coloured hair. This technique is to be used if the customer wishes to change the shade of their hair (already coloured) from a dark one to a lighter one. It is not possible to bleach hair which have been already coloured using a permanent hair colour (rule of thumb: one colour does not remove another colour).

Don't miss a thing

Igarashi K, et al. (2018). Research on hair bleach that causes less hair damage and smells less pungent than ammonium hydroxide. After the end of the application time wash your hair with shampoo for damaged hair and apply a suitable hair care product (conditioner, mask etc.). Do not economize on the lightening mixture! Ideally, the hair should be completely covered. Only in this way you can achieve the best and the most even results without stains etc.

Bleaching powder - If you yearn for an intense lift from dark to blonde hair, you will probably need to use a lightening powder which is much stronger and can make your hair up to 8 levels lighter in just one application. The downside is that powders do not regulate the tone. For this reason, many professionals use a toner to enhance the tone. It is the best option for colour-treated hair, providing maximum guarantee during lightening and a high level of neutralisation of unwanted warm tones. If you have coloured your hair brown and now you want a lighter brown colour, your hairdresser will probably use a lightening powder, which breaks down the artificial pigments and then colours your hair light brown. John Pulitanois a stylist and the co-owner and creative director of Headcase Hair, a salon in Sydney, Australia. A third way to lighten hair without bleach is to use a sun-kissed hair lightening spray. Sun-kissed hair lightening sprays are designed to add a natural-looking lightening effect to your hair. They are available at most drugstores and retail outlets.

During the application of the bleach, your head may start itching and you may feel a slight stabbing pain. Don’t worry! A slight burning sensation is absolutely normal. If your hair didn’t get the required colour, you can repeat the bleaching process in two weeks using a smaller amount of a concentrated lightener. Lightening - used to lighten natural hair. Lightening can be defined as a process of artificial reduction and dissolution of pigment in hair. That doesn’t mean you can’t play around with a few safe options though—whether it's a gentle DIY, a heat-activated hair mist, or a clarifying shampoo that'll brighten up your color just a bit. Hairstylists and dermatologists agree that you should stay away from the hard stuff (think: baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar), and instead rely on ingredients that are going to help the overall health of your hair (hi, honey and cinnamon). And when in doubt? Always book an appointment with a pro if/when you can.

Using the spatula, mix in the shell an equal amount of pink activating cream and white hair lightening cream.Once applied, wrap your hair in plastic wrap or a shower cap. Leave on for 10 minutes up to overnight before rinsing. Salt Apply the mixture systematically section after section on very thin strands, usually on dry, unwashed hair, but exceptions may apply. Always follow the instructions for use. Combine ingredients into a paste to sit overnight. Apply to hair for two to three hours. Cover hair with a shower cap to protect your scalp and clothing from being dyed. Then rinse and style. In the following months also avoid using deep cleansing shampoos and anti-dandruff shampoos which tend to remove colour.
