About this deal

I won't share the outline of the story - other reviewers have done this, but I would recommend letting the book roll the story out for you, the suspense as it is teased out makes it all worthwhile. Nothing feels padded here. John Vaillant has researched and done his leg work to bring not just a chilling tale of an animal gone wild, but also that tale in complete context of its existence. Everything is pieced together. Nothing is extraneous. Yes, many children’s books about tigers touch on conservation efforts for the species and can be a great way to introduce children to the importance of protecting endangered animals. In addition, even fiction books with tigers that are fun and friendly expose children to these animals and can help them develop an interest in the natural world.

It's one of those books that you get so absorbed in and you learn all of these interesting facts that you want to share with people... for instance (I just have to share!) tigers are known for their virility and their strength - and the Sanskrit word for tiger *vyagghra* was Anglicized into "viagra" for the well-known impotency medication. Interesting, right? Well, there's more to learn inside this book! This story does not have a solid conclusion with a typical American “happy ending” that ties up all loose strings. Tigers are fascinating creatures known for their strength, beauty, and unique markings. These incredible animals appear both fierce and cuddly at the same time, which makes them excellent characters in children’s books. I am a tiger,” declares the main character of this story – although anyone looking at the pictures would probably say they are actually a mouse. Ultimately, the problem comes down to umwelt; we are such prisoners of our subjective experience that it is only by force of will and imagination that we are able to take leave of it at all and consider the experience and essence of another creature—or even another person."The main character goes on an exciting adventure ascending snow-capped mountains and swimming in the ocean. Key quote: "Vaillant’s tiger tale is nuanced." Note that the man-killing tiger was injured, and could no longer hunt its usual prey -- as is common in historic man-eaters. And tigers need a LOT of meat to survive a Siberian winter. You do not want to be charged by a hungry, 500 pound tiger! It's quite a story, and I recommend it with a few reservations. 3.7 stars, rounded up. By regularly bringing down large prey like elk, moose, boar, and deer, the tiger feeds countless smaller animals, birds, and insects, not to mention the soil. Every such event sends another pulse of lifeblood through the body of the forest." If you’re looking for a children’s book about s tigers, it’s important to consider whether the book is fiction or nonfiction. Fictional books can offer imaginative and engaging stories that capture the imagination of young readers, while nonfiction books provide factual and educational insights into the world of tigers. Choosing the best book about tigers largely depends on your child’s interests and learning style. Do they want to learn about scientific facts, habitats, and behaviors of these magnificent creatures? Or do they want to delve into a richly crafted fictional world where tigers have personalities and can speak? Age Appropriate This book brings you into discussions of zoology, anthropology, sociology, taphonomy, and paleontology just to name a few areas. You are introduced to the concepts of Umwelt and Unbegung. These are fascinating ways to look at how we (and animals) may perceive our environment. Here is one discussion to give you an idea how the book explains predator and prey:

Since its release in 1968, the Tiger Who Came to Tea has been popular with generations of kids. This timeless picture book tells a fun story, and it’s easy to see why it has won the hearts of millions of young readers. Over five million copies have been sold since its initial release. It has been translated into Braille, German, Hebrew, Welsh, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese. As you can see from our list, there are so many wonderful children’s books about tigers available today! So, how do you go about choosing the best one for your child? Well, here are a few important things to keep in mind:Sprinkled in among the hunt for the man eating tiger, is a rich history of the land, the people who call it home, and the psyche of the tigers who live there. A female tiger gives birth to a litter of three or four cubs, who she will care for until they are a year-and-a-half old. These cubs quadruple in size during their first month!

This story comes from a writer and an illustrator from India and has a unique and beautifully engaging style. Animals like tigers have remained a major source of inspiration for children’s literature for ages. There are many diverse ways that authors portray the animal world, spanning fables with talking animals to tales in which animals represent human qualities such as innocence, greed, courage, or laziness. Even books written from an animal’s perspective exist. The stories characterized by these animals spark a range of emotions in children, including delight, surprise, and horror. To end a person's life is one thing; to eradicate him from the face of the earth is another. The latter is far more difficult to do, and yet the tiger had done it, had transported this young man beyond death to a kind of carnal oblivion."

The illustrations are stunning with a combination of mixed media paintings on wood and computer illustration. Tiger stripes are special to each individual, and their tails help them to keep their balance. The big cats share all but 4.4% of their DNA with domestic cats. This book is a great example of the author’s signature style, a mix of humor, compassion, and a pinch of absurdity.
