About this deal

Voted one of the best poetry collections of 2019 by readers on Goodreads! Bestselling and Goodreads Choice Award winning poet Trista Mateer takes a magical approach to self-care with her new collection, Aphrodite Made Me Do It.

It’s a story of assault, and survival, and having our stories rewritten without our consent. It’s worship and blasphemy, anger and heartache, capped off with tenderness and self-love and learning to cherish yourself no matter how many people in your life have failed to do so. i thought this book could get more "tumblier" and here goes, in the middle of the book, a random list of things to do for your mental health. It's lovely but it doesn't really make sense ...Among all these other things, it’s an incredible view on many infamous women of mythology, and it gives a voice to the sides of their stories that we all too often overlook. It plays a strong parallel to the sides of stories from everyday women today society would have us overlook, too, and it’s powerful. Don’t miss out on this one.

This novel is a fast-paced and thrilling adventure story that revolves around a mysterious artifact related to Aphrodite. Andrews’ writing is engaging and suspenseful. He weaves elements of mythology, archaeology, and mystery to create a compelling and entertaining read. It also annoyed me that they went through ALL that with the Rev and in the end they didn’t care to get his DNA to do a test to see if he was the father. I hate it when shows do that. This build up and no payoff. And the guy was a jerk and I wanted to punch him for the vile things he was saying to Wynonna.the basic theme of the collection is following our narrator who has endured abuse & lost the meaning of love as she finds the goddess aphrodite in her room. aphrodite then (as the feminist, lgbt icon she is) explains the power of love and forgiveness to our narrator. Outside Pussy Willows, Nicole is telling Wynonna that she should drive, and Wynonna is telling Nicole she’s a cute drunk, when Wynonna remembers something. And this was another one of those perfectly played Scrofano moments, because Wynonna says, “Abort! Abort!” then does this cute little gasp and apologizes to her belly. And then he…runs. Between her belly bump and Nicole’s drunkenness they’re sure they’re going to catch him, but Waverly swoops in just in time to hit him with a car door. This book is well done and well written. Julie Barry is a fantastic writer. You can tell that she thought this through and educated herself on many aspects of this novel. It comes across as very simple, but there are profound elements without pretentious.

Anyway the reason she said that is because she realized they can’t leave yet; Jonas knows she’s pregnant, and she can’t have the whole Revenant population knowing. Venus and Aphrodite is historically accurate and an academic book. It teaches us many things that many books on Aphrodite do regarding her story, where her idea came from, and how she was approached. The author touches on many aspects of feminism, whether self-love, body image, and sexuality. It talks about the political standpoint. As time moved, how Aphrodite was changed and portrayed became different. If you are somebody that has an interest in feminist literature, this is an essential read. You get to see how the role of powerful women could be changed even so early on throughout history. Even the role of a deity could be changed so drastically to fit whatever was considered appropriate at the time. Aphrodite is a very complex and unique character. She is intelligent and strong, but she also has a side of softness. The best thing I noticed is how the author wrote every character in this book. She was good at creating every character to be unique in their way. I never felt like she made them one-dimensional. Because of this, you will feel each relationship is unique. There’s no actual plot, and it’s about love during wartime. There are many places where you can read about Aphrodite and her mythology. Here are some suggestions: I HIGHLY recommend this to EVERY queer person & ally for the LGBTQIA+ community if you’re in the place to read it (trigger warnings at the bottom) its a beautiful story about forgiveness, dealing with past trauma, and accepting yourself. it’s beautiful, it’s heart wrenching, and it HAS A HAPPY ENDING !!!!

Books about Aphrodite can offer insights into the mythology and symbolism surrounding this vital figure and her cultural and historical significance. If you are curious about Greek mythology or the role of goddesses in ancient cultures, reading these books can be a rewarding experience. This collection of short stories retells various myths and legends featuring Aphrodite and her many lovers. The stories are beautifully written and offer a fresh perspective on familiar tales. Museums: Museums provide informative displays and descriptions of the artifacts they have on display. However, my most fav poem is The Raven by E. A. Poe. It has everything which I look for in poems. I even has its audio version which I listen to very often… Meanwhile somewhere in a dusty barn, a boy wakes up a cobweb covered cowboy called Reeves and says he found the man they have been looking for. Reeves tells the boy to mark the man for execution, and that man is Doc Holliday. According to the boy, he has been “decloaked.” (More like de-Clootied amiright.)About the Author: Trista Mateer is a writer/artist who traveled a lot in her life but has finally decided to reside in New Jersey by the sea. She started out as a blogger on Tumblr in 2013 and won the 2015 Goodreads Choice Award for poetry. She then transitioned into traditional publishing and in 2017 when she released her first collection Honeybee and also went on to create “The Unholy Wild” and Aphrodite Made Me Do It, which represents her art of prose and poetry.
