I don't remember how this went but it sounds dangerous rules-wise. When the pandemic hit, at first I just didn't work on games. I wrote some stories and novellas. Eventually my daughter Natalie started playing games with me. At the same time I typed up a few Dominion cards, in case external playtesters could somehow playtest them. One day in May I set up Dominion, which Natalie'd been resisting trying, and we played it and nothing bad happened. So after that, we played it a bunch. So I worked on an expansion! That's how they get you.

In addition, you may play one action card per turn, these cards may provide you with extra money, extra card draws, the chance to buy two cards this turn, or even provide extra actions allowing you to chain multiple action cards together. These are where the meat of Dominion lies, as each game you choose 10 different kingdom cards from the 25 different kingdom cards supplied, even the base version of Dominion has 3,268,760 different variations! We’re firmly into the more complex side of Dominion expansions now with Empires, which adds a bit of Roman flavor to the usual medieval theme, with chariot races and gladiators. In terms of new mechanics, the big ones are Debt and Landmarks. There are 15 Loot cards, with 2 copies of each. Shuffle them into a face-down pile before the game if any cards refer to Loot.

Dominion Empires

Dominion was the first board game we actually chose together to start our collection and I remember opening it on Christmas day and playing it over and over again. That was either three or four years ago, and we’ve since expanded it, but it’s still being played and enjoyed. Dominion Gameplay

The first edition of Intrigue was also a standalone game and came with its own set of Basic cards. Second Edition removed the Basic cards, and replaced six Kingdom cards with seven new ones. Later on I realized Traits could be stronger than they'd been. So, that earlier Trait with no bad part. It does not spark joy. When you gain or trash a card, may discard this, to trash the gained card or gain the trashed card. Tries hard but doesn't do enough. That thing could happen the same turn, or many turns later; these may sit in play turn after turn until finally the thing happens. For example you could play a Secluded Shrine and two Coppers , buy a Silver , and immediately trash two cards from your hand, discarding Secluded Shrine that turn. Or you could buy a Stowaway instead, and leave Secluded Shrine in play for next turn.

So if you gain a Ghost Town , it will be set aside on this (instead of going to your hand). If you play two Quartermasters, they each have their own set of cards. However if you Throne Room a Quartermaster, you just have one set of cards for it, and twice on each of your turns, either add one or take one. This is the 15th expansion to Dominion®. It has 500 cards, with 40 new Kingdom cards. It has lots of Treasures and Durations, with cards that give you Loot, and Traits that modify piles. Events return. Enduring Durations: Cage, Search, Secluded Shrine, Abundance, Flagship, Landing Party, Cutthroat, Quartermaster, Endless Chalice For Seaside , Prosperity , and Hinterlands 2E hot takes (all hosted by tracer), the new cards were inserted into the 2021 list, in the method used in 2019.
