About this deal

The first session at the Congress lasted a beaten eight hours. She was exhausted and just wanted to go to the hotel and take a bath and relax. Yves stood by the car and waited for her. He opened the car door and she boarded. The car radio played jazz music. But not the fast and nervous variant. No, it was that soft, warm, very soulful jazz. He started the limousine and asked: Should I turn off the music or raise the cutting disc,...Madame? She just answers, "No, no... leave everything as it is! But everything was not as it is! Yves smelled different somehow. Although still somehow herby-fresh and it was still his eau de toilette, but it had become much, much deeper and warmer around him. It seemed as if he had aged by several years in the past time. But in a positive sense. A smoky-herb mineral oak moss filled the car and a delicate tobacco scent lay in the air and mixed with the smell of the leather. Or was it in his perfume, too? A spicy-warm and very masculine aura now emanated from him. At that moment she felt incredibly well taken care of in the car and in his presence. The casualness and sovereignty that Yves radiated from this moment was very impressive and protective. She had been very wrong about his scent! To this day I know of no fragrance that has managed to combine youth and maturity as skilfully as jazz by Yves Saint Laurent. All the facets of a man in just one fragrance. Sparkling, rough, smart, uncouth and somewhat uninhibited, it gradually changes into casual elegance,

Maturity, sovereignty, male warmth and irrepressible casualness. What Yves Saint Laurent has created is a glittering prism of masculinity. Brightly cool and yet so infinitely deep-warm. A rough shell and a soft core. Not a simple perfume. Jazz is a challenge for every man. But that's the way men are. Not always easy and easy to see through. And we gladly accept challenges! Or? Though not a powerhouse, the longevity, is actually very good on my skin. During testing, I was able to get 9-10 hours of wear from this YSL cologne, without any issue. I was actually surprised that a newer batch, could still bring it with the performance. Jazz Prestige is a worthy flanker to its stalwart big brother and would be a plus to any collection. Although, as a discontinued fragrance, Prestige has taken on a reverence normally reserved only for dead movie stars of yore so its bloated price tag on the gray market is a big minus. This is best suited for men in their mid-20s and up. If you’re a younger guy and want something different, you could still pull it off. It can be worn casually, at the office, or for an evening out. It has a certain level of sexiness, but isn’t a club banger, by any means.

Tsar has been a popular enough fragrance for 30-plus years for it to have developed a fan base of adherents. As such, people want to find alternatives to this scent that can offer something similar but with a different feel or strike a close chord. In this post, I want to present 3 cologne options that smell similar Tsar by Van Cleef & Arpels. So, objectively speaking, this one is not a cologne in any way, shape or form, which may lead one to wonder why it has been included in a round-up of Eau de Colognes. But remember, this is a quirky and mystifying look at colognes so just go with it…

Lavender is quite present here, along with drier and woodsy notes, when the initial spice fades. Tobacco, oakmoss, and a hint of leather. Once it gets to the floral heart, they are very similar, with artemisia, lavender, and geranium being big players in both. For more than fifteen years, Jean-François Latty was part of the Téo Cabanel adventure, imbuing every fragrance of the brand with his style. Among these, we will always remember Oha, Alahine, or Lace Garden, just to name a few. Notes include: lavender, coriander, nutmeg, artemisia, tobacco, geranium, jasmine, carnation, cardamom, basil, and more Since jazz in this version is only available at moon prices, I will guard it like the apple of my eye, but it will surely become a victim of its genius and I cannot control myself in the frequency of its use. I will get the current Jazz soon and hope that he doesn't "stink" too much against his father.

Jazz appeared in 1988, when Cool Water was launched and the world was preparing for a change. Fresh, clean and aquatic were the themes and things like animalic leathers of chypres were starting to disappear. Jazz shows a different path. Lavender, jasmine, oakmoss and nutmeg. A beautiful Fougère with Spicy-floral nuances. This one has been reformulated over the years, so, it probably won’t exactly smell how it used to be. Not too much of a problem, if you’re new to it. Honestly, it still has plenty of life and I have to say that I find it pretty enjoyable. I approached Prestige with some trepidation, I'm not a fan of 90's fresh fougeres, particularly ozonic, aquatic, fruity "fresh" ones such as Live Jazz for example and I passed over quite a few opportunities to have it join the collection because of that. Thankfully no aqua here and I really enjoyed a test run of Prestige. What we have here is a fougere that was way ahead of its time as it is not at all dissimilar in feel to the kind that's been put out for a number of years by niche houses such as L'Art de la Guerre or Fou d'Absinthe, pretty successful attempts to modernize the ol' fougere with different uncommon top notes and moss replacement. But what makes this a real winner for me is that the playful notes are grounded in now banned true naturals in the base something that has always been a let down for me in the two previously mentioned scents for example.

The final result is a dry, fresh, green floral/spice blend, that is fairly barbershop in its essence. Jazz is a great fougere example, that is balanced, and still retains a mass appeal. There’s a nice mossy finish towards the end or at least the impression of moss, anyway. With Jazz, I get 9-10 hours of performance, so if you want a near match with Tsar that gives you what you pay for…this is a great choice. My Full Review Pasha is a great performer and sits beautifully in the colder months of the years. Oakmoss and mint, give it a dry freshness, and then the caraway for some added spice. The scent warms up, while retaining its green outdoorsy depth, and the coolness of the mint. Super high quality and very masculine in a classic Fougère way, but with a freshness that puts it apart from the other fougère offerings out there. I don't know why YSL decided to discontinued it but probably it didn't well in sales. In 2011 they re-lauched it in a different bottle but the formula changed and it seemed somewhat flat and watered down. I think it's now discontinued again or only available in some places. This, dear reader, I like to refer as my ‘scent snobbery’ phase and it’s one many of us go through. You see, when the door to the rabbit hole of perfume is opened, one is overwhelmed by an overflowing sweet shop of scent, and it’s hard not to get caught up in the excitement of wearing things that the hoi polloi haven’t even heard of.Anyway, if you like fougère fragrances but want something slightly different and high quality, try to grab a bottle of this beauty. It's really fascinating how a fougère appears to be familiar but in the same time different and modern. One of my favourite fougères and a classic that would stood the test of time if L'Oréal didn't had decided to reformulate it.
