About this deal

Stir the mixture until it’s completely combined and feels like the consistency of mashed potatoes, adding more water if necessary. Even if you already have full, dark brows, a tint can add more dimension to the tails, define your arches, and add more fullness.

This list is far from exhaustive but will give you a good idea of which natural sources produce which colors. Experimenting with whatever you have on hand is recommended and is half the fun of producing dyes. You never know what you will discover! Many people are keen to keep dyeing their hair, but to do so with products that are kinder to both their bodies and the environment.

If you’ve attempted a DIY eyebrow tint and aren’t a fan or merely want to lighten your brows, here’s a natural recipe intended to lighten those hairs. This is meant to be an alternative to bleach, so it won’t give you perfectly white eyebrows but can bring you down several shades lighter. This recipe uses a combination of sunlight and lemon juice to result in lighter eyebrows.

Once upon a time, natural hair dye limited you to a semi-permanent tint, such as henna (which is still a great semi-permanent natural dye to play with). With a cotton ball, pad, or clean cloth, disinfect the eyebrow area with rubbing alcohol. Be careful not to get too close to the eyes. If there’s no reaction within a few hours, it likely means that you should be completely safe to apply the tint to your brows. However, if the test area becomes red, itchy or irritated, it indicates that you might be allergic to one of its ingredients or are especially sensitive to that particular formula – in which case you shouldn’t use the product. Note that there are eyebrow tints designed with sensitive skin in mind, and we have included such products in our list below. There are loads of reasons we shun our natural hair colour and love to dye our hair, from wanting to hide greying hair to experimenting with a completely new look. For those who don't like to break the bank on boxed dye, this is a great choice. It's not only inexpensive but also free of a litany of ingredients, including ammonia, parabens, sulfates, silicones, and phthalates. (Just a heads up, it does contain resorcinol.) The cream formula doesn't drip, and the demi-permanent color lasts up to six weeks while completely covering any pesky grays. Bonus points for the inclusion of a botanical-based conditioning gloss.Once you have found a permanent dye you love, you will want to keep your colour looking luminous for as long as possible. Cover the mixture with plastic wrap, and let it sit for about 12 hours. (You may need to add more water after the 12 hours so that it can be applied to your hair.)
