About this deal

You get lots of amazing functionality in a compact device, and there’s even support for Serato video too. You may find that you perform better in the second slicer mode if you still don’t have much experience. Many of the DJs at Sweetwater have long since abandoned the conventional use of platters, which is one of the other reasons we're so excited about the DDJ-SP1. If you're looking for a lightweight and compact controller for beat juggling and tend to create your own mappings anyway, then you'll love what you can do with a DDJ-SP1 and pretty much any DJ software. Built to be tough, portable, and fun to perform with Once you exit Serato Video control mode by pressing Shift + Auto Loop push encoder again, Serato Video will continue to operate until you disable it in Setup, but you will regain use of the audio effects controls. That said, this will find a lot of friends in Seratoland and in the wider DJ landscape too. Granted, it’s not cheap, but this is likely be a solid workhorse for a long time to come. Being able to add in velocity sensitive pads into even the cheapest controller setup can be quite a draw. I’m looking forward to seeing what type of controllers the rest of the now seemingly open market will bring. With a single platform, Serato DJ makes it easier to either become an authorised accessory or to be easily mapped as a secondary controller.

There's no sense in making a DJ controller both portable and compact if you always seem to end up having to fish lose knobs or fader caps out of your bag after your set starts. The built quality alone is probably half the reason Pioneer Pro DJ gear is so popular in the first place, and the DDJ-SP1 is a pretty good example of why. At the same time, Pioneer didn't sacrifice the feel of their oh-so playable pads and tweakable knobs just to provide you with bulletproof portability - the DDJ-SP1 is more like a finely tuned instrument made for DJs to play with than a "controller" in the conventional sense. Pioneer Pro DDJ-SP1 Digital DJ Controller Features: Finally, the 2 pad Sampler modes work in conjunction with the Serato DJ SP-6 sampler. The only difference is that the Velocity Sampler mode alters sample volume according the strength which with you hit the pad, and the regular Sampler mode triggers samples at full volume every time. Pioneer’s DDJ-SP1 also maintains the same strong and reliable build as the larger Pioneer products on the market. With access to everything from slip mode solutions to loop, scratch, and reverse elements, the DDJ-SP1 is a brilliant addition to your current digital environment.Add the DDJ-SP1 to a set-up that supports mixing and scratching with Serato DJ – for example a laptop, or timecode CDJs/turntables with a DJM-900SRT mixer – and use the pre-mapped buttons and dials to trigger 6 samples, 8 Hot Cues and more than 30 FX Powered by iZotope – without the need to touch a keyboard or mouse. The DDJ-SP1 is equipped with pads, faders, dial and buttons specifically designed for controlling all Serato DJ’s features. The DDJ-SP1 inherits the familiar layout from Pioneer’s popular controller range, with a few updates to make the DJing experience even more enjoyable. Sampler Volume Fader – allows efficient finger drum performance. The volume is able to be controlled naturally though the taps of the fingers. Earlier this week, Pioneer DJ announced a significant update for their Rekordbox DJ library and performance software. Most notably, this update stabilized the fledgling DJ software compatibility with the latest version of Mac OS, Sierra, as well as offered Rekordbox DJ support for the Pioneer DDJ-SP1 performance pad controller when combined with another supported controller. DDJ-SP1’s Evolution

The DDJ-SP1 inherits the familiar layout from Pioneer’s popular controller range, with a few updates to make the DJing experience even more enjoyable: The biggest downside for most people will be that the DDJ-SP1 comes with a hefty price tag when you consider that you don’t get Serato DJ software included. If you’re a Serato DJ user who doesn’t think their controller provides adequate access to certain performance modes and effects, then the Pioneer DDJ-SP1 could be perfect for you. Performance Pads: sixteen rubber Performance Pads are assigned to seven modes: Hot Cue, Roll, Sample, Slicer, Auto Loop, Hot Loop and Manual Loop. The LED illuminated pads’ Velocity Mode lets DJs control the sample volume with the amount of pressure they apply. LED illumination on each pad gives DJs an instant visual reference for the state of play. Pioneer DJ provides access to Serato DJ Pro for free if you already have Serato Scratch Live. DDJ-SP1: Pros and Cons This is pure common sense for Pioneer and Serato to do this. Firstly, it smoothes the way for the DJM-900SRT to be embraced by the club world, and at the same time offers a more compelling performance unit to access key features of Serato DJ. That said, the Traktor Kontrol narrow format does fit better at the side of a mixer, and is possibly a better location. But from a turning up at the club and plugging in perspective, the DDJ-SP1 doesn’t require disrupting the booth.

Also included in the update are several stability features for using the CDJ range with Rekrodbox, including the latest CDJ-2000NXS2 and the CDJ-TOUR1. You can exit the video control mode for Serato by pressing the Auto Loop and Shift buttons. Though the service will continue to operate, you’ll have control of the audio effects too. While you can potentially use the DDJ-SP1with virtually any software, as long as you know how to map things out according to the templates provided, Pioneer created this machine for Serato.

Also included: several key updates to Rekordbox Video, an expansion offered in a previous update released in tandem with the DDJ-RZX. The new features include: Like its forerunner, the Digital DJ-SX (Model Name: DDJ-SX), the DDJ-SP1 was built to withstand the rigours of the booth, with a durable and stylish aluminium faceplate and rubber pots. With a slim build, instantaneous set up and sturdy T-U101 X-Stand (sold separately), this compact controller is a perfectly portable addition to any DJ booth.
