AKRON — City Barbeque is an Ohio-founded barbeque joint known for its award-winning smoked meats, made-from-scratch sides, indulgent desserts and a healthy dose of backyard hospitality. The Grand Opening of Northern Ohio’s first location will take place Saturday, May 19 and the Chamber will preside over the official ribbon cutting, followed by a “rib bone” cutting at 10:30 am. that day. The day will feature live music, giveaways, and family fun. In keeping with the restaurant’s commitment to community involvement, 10% of sales on May 19 will go to Fairlawn’s own Weathervane Playhouse. Actors from Weathervane will be on hand to interact with guests and sing a scene from their current play (about 5 p.m.). City Barbeque will also be selling T-shirts for a suggested donation of $5, with 100% of the sales going to the Playhouse.
The various activities taking place throughout the day include live music by JT Teis (5-8 p.m.), face painters, games, giveaways, a visit from Zippy and the University of Akron cheerleaders (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) and more!
