About this deal

I replaced my perished exhaust bobbin with one from a local motor factors but 6 months on it looks as bad as the one it replaced. Assuming it's an RC40 (I wouldn't know, it looks like it could be though) would this kit contain all the bits I'd need? It's only supported by one mount at the tailpipe end and by the downpipe at the engine end, and it's very close to the ground (scrapes even when I take the tightest possible angle into the drive). I must admit I don't see the advantage of a poly bush isolator for something like an exhaust, though. I got my Mini a couple of weeks ago, and it came with a centre-exit exhaust fitted (afraid I've no idea what sort).

I don't think there's much need to allow for linear vertical movement other than to provide some cushioning of shock loads causes by the inertia of the silencer over bumps etc.I planned to sandwich each of the 26mm wide rubber bushes between 25mm M8 stainless penny washers to distribute the load evenly. Also if anyone knows the part number and a good supplier in the UK or Europe it would be very much appreciated. A belted hanger for a Ford 3/4 ton pickup truck was cut to length and used at the front of the rear subframe.

Arrived in Eureka, MT with exhaust out of the Mini's sun roof and sounding like a biker gang on the prowl. It seems to have pretty much the same stiffness and range of movement as the original bobbin when pushing and pulling the system around. Ok ive found this as well not using the rubber bobbin setup that you have but uses the fixed set up for the rear mount!I should imagine the only significant movement in the bush is in the roll axis when inertial forces on the mass of the silencer, which is outboard of the mount, cause the whole exhaust system to flex in torsion. I checked to make sure that the holes in the exhaust and the chassis bracket are large enough to allow the bolt to pivot through a large angle, ensuring that the load is always on the rubber spacers rather than being a shear load on the bolt. The key to getting a reasonable life out of them was to set them up so that there is minimal strain on the bobbin. I used a nyloc nut and inserted the bolt from above so it wouldn't tend to fall out even if the nut came off. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary. There is a real problem with the quality of rubber components for classic cars at the moment, I've had steering rack boots that have split in just over a year and a vacuum pipe connector that hasn't lasted 8 months. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
