About this deal

The novel’s final resolution is a welcome party for the baby, whom they name Alex, on the anniversary of the accident. The author's narrative technique allows the reader to become fully aware of Jonathan Elliott Cunningham and Kennedy Reagan Garfield’s trials and tribulations. Sure, I kinda wanted to get married, and I definitely wanted to have kids, but wasn’t there just a way to do that without the whole dating part?

Looking back now, I’m even more grateful that I somehow took this exceptionally unorthodox path to matrimony as the whole process of dating seems to be so much fucking harder now than it was back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s when I was a dater. And I can’t think of a book that better captures the madness of this first-world, twenty-first century torment than Ghosted, a triumphant debut with the twists of a mystery and the coy charm of a romance novel. Ashworth shows the shifting and sad relationship between father and daughter with the same subtle complexity that she does everything, pieced together with memories of the past and anxieties about the future. Earlier today I was trapped in some pointless dark thought or other, my body clenched like a metal fist.Walsh doesn’t spend a lot of time on those seven days – rather focuses on their meeting and then offers us snippets. Though she is pretty content to never leave the love nest she and Eddie have built — and he doesn’t seem in a rush to push her from it — Eddie is scheduled to head off on holiday . Sometimes it is done of necessity – avoid someone who is creepy – sometimes out of sheer dislike (when telling someone clearly and nicely that it won’t work just isn’t sufficient), but many times the reasons aren’t so clear or nearly so justifiable.

And underneath all that, the fear: once Mavis had decided this was all her fault, she would leave me too. USA Today Bestselling Author of predominately romantic suspense novels about the baddest bad boys and the ladies who love them. These two main characters have such an amazing chemistry and you can tell they’re just destined to be with each other. After one chance meeting, Sarah ignores the real reason she came back “home,” an ailing relative, to engage in the teenage abandonment of a love affair that is more sugary sweet than steamy. At one point in the book, Kennedy mentioned that Maddie’s smile is what kept her going and reminded her that she was doing okay. I don’t much like the term ‘lovely’ in this context but I’ve yet to meet an indie bookseller who isn’t. As a rule, when an author establishes a plot in which the logical outcome is bad, they need to be brave enough to let that bad shit happen — even if you, the reader, really want a happy ending. I’m not a fan of romance but the idea of being ‘ghosted’ by someone who seemingly had no reason to disappear / ignore you was kinda intriguing. The more he started to redeem himself in the "present day" story, the more his "past" behavior justified Kennedy's standoffish demeanor.
