There is a strong suggestion people were buried nearby as archaeologists found the tombstones of two Roman soldiers and a Briton woman on the site.The road follows its current course from the A6178 Sheffield Road towards what is today a steel refinery.

Police suspect it belongs to one of Temples' victims and, when a local florist is found murdered in an echo of Temples' crimes, DI Wesley Peterson fears a copy-cat killer could be at large.I thoroughly enjoyed Dead Man’s Lane which is a good mixture of police procedural and historical investigation.

When a local florist, Linda Payne, is found murdered Wesley and the team are on the case but it presents a puzzle.
