About this deal

And while hitting the spacebar repeatedly for strategic or affirming jumps is delightful on many mechanical keyboards, it’s more nerve-wracking on the K60 RGB Pro. Both switches need 45 grams of force to actuate, but the Speeds also have a shorter 1 mm pre-travel, (as opposed to 2 mm on the Violas), making them more suitable for twitchy tasks like gaming, at least in theory. That means I’ve improved in just a few weeks but still have a way to go before I hit my typical 78-80 wpm. The K60 RGB Pro is the first keyboard to land in our lab with the Cherry Viola mechanical switches announced January.

Light up your desktop with vivid per-key RGB backlighting, fully customizable through powerful CORSAIR iCUE software. The rubber feet aren't the grippiest, although we didn't experience any issues with the keyboard sliding around. Since there are no extra buttons or dials on the keyboard itself, all customization has to be done via Corsair’s iQUE software, which has only gotten more user friendly over the years. Illuminate your desktop with near-limitless colors and effects, enhanced by amplified underglow keycaps with a standard bottom row.

The Corsair K60 RGB Pro Low Profile has more specialized and premium switches than the cheaper Corsair K60 RGB Pro but the two are otherwise identical. It’s a thicker rubber one with some enforcement where it attaches to the keyboard, making it harder, but not impossible, to bend.

It’s the height that marks the major difference, with the Low Profile version sitting nine millimeters shorter than its sibling. It's perfect for daily use as well, with a smooth feel behind each press that makes it just as comfortable typing up a three-page review as it is "QQ-ing" in Counter-Strike. With full N-key rollover and 100% anti-ghosting to ensure your keypresses always register, along with Windows Key Lock mode to ensure your game is never interrupted, the K60 RGB PRO lets you be the ultimate key player. As the name suggests, the big change here is the inclusion of Cherry’s MX Low Profile Speed switches. Stand out from the masses with CHERRY MV — their transparent design allows for greater diffusion of light, displaying the full radiance of CORSAIR iCUE RGB lighting.

Illuminate your desktop with bright, dynamic, per-key rgb backlighting fully customizable with near-limitless colors and effects.

It's a well-built keyboard with full RGB backlighting, and it's comfortable to use for long periods. I had difficulty even pressing enough keys at the same time to test this feature, but using an online tool, I easily registered over 50 simultaneous keypresses. My bigger issues came with the keyboard’s key caps, which don’t offer much resistance or texture and can get slimy after heavy use. Gamer-keyboard manufacturers somehow believe that lower actuation distance is a good thing for gaming, and thus they screw it up for those who'd want a keyboard mostly for typing. Which leaves the Corsair K60 RGB Pro Low Profile with a pretty comfortable niche in between budget and performance.Of course, you also get some out-of-box RGB presets, like the standard Rainbow Wave, the aforementioned Watercolor, and Rain, which quickly sprinkles various colors across the keyboard, plus ones that sync with audio or the in-game action of supported titles. The keyboard does sport an aluminum backplate located just below the keys, but the underbelly of the Corsair K60 RGB Pro Low Profile is plastic. There’s still no braided cable here, and unlike with the standard K60 RGB Pro, there’s not even an option to upgrade to a model with a wrist rest. It's very minimalistic with the Corsair logo up top in black and small "K60" branding at the bottom-left. Everything to do with the K60 RGB Pro Low Profile is managed through the Corsair iCue software, which is excellent.

However, these switches might be overly sensitive for some people and can cause more typos than usual. You'll need to spend some time getting used to the low-profile nature of this keyboard, but once you're grown accustomed to the layout and how everything works, you'll become top of the leaderboard in no time. That short press means it’s easy to accidentally hit the spacebar if your hand were to brush over the deck, but I didn’t have a problem with any other key. We've also added a new Switches test box, added additional test comparisons to our Hardware Customizability test box that we introduced with our last Test Bench. It's a full-sized keyboard, making this a bad choice for those who desire ten-keyless or 60% mechanical typing machines. The two switches also have similar specs: 4mm total travel, actuating at 2mm with 45 grams of force.
