Ethereal and mellow on thepalate, it boasts flavours of toffee and caramel, burnt orange and raisins,dried plums, hazelnuts and a savoury hint of mushroom on the finish. Over many years of ageing, the Port wine gradually takes on its characteristic amber ‘tawny’ colour, slowly developing the complex mellow flavours and the smooth luscious palate which are the hallmarks of this style of port. Available by the bottle or case, your wine gift will be individually tailored with a personal message, tasting notes and vintage description.

Aged Tawny Ports have been aged in wooden casks for an extended number of years and in the process their colour lightens and they take on a softer character. Despite the low yields from its small grapes, it plays a big part in the blends used for ports, and is increasingly being used for table wine. This has spent 20 years in cask which has given it a warm rustic amber colour and powerful dried apple and apricot flavours which merge with soft spices and full and nutty on to a long and refined finish. Pairs extremely well with nuts, dried fruits and fruitcake, but also with vanilla ice cream or crème brûlée.Better known for red wines, this is one of the only wine regions in Portugal to be dominated by a single grape variety,the tannic, high-acid baga, making wines that can be tough and astringent in their youth but which soften with age, becoming beguilingly perfumed.
