There are wonderful, small-town gossipy folks, tight-knit to the core, that made the town seem like a character of its own. For over fifteen years he believed he wasn’t good enough for Remi and yet for their first time together he was focussed on disciplining and dominating her, there was no tenderness in evidence, just a strong desire claim ownership and leave an imprint. Watching them bumble through this metaphorical wall of past hurts, of insecurities, of frustrations was entertaining to watch. I mean I’m all for unique/quirky heroines, but you lose me pretty quick when it crosses into “special snowflake” territory.
