About this deal

I chose the book for him because as a teacher I read Michael Rosen's books and poetry frequently to my classes. The narrowness of his course of study proved a source of dissatisfaction and Michael began looking outside his recommended reading to contemporary working, class ballads.

The stories are funny and would be just as suitable for a parent to read to their child, chapter by chapter , or to help encourage reluctant readers to pick out words they recognise and then have the page read to then. Fluff can’t sit, she won’t bark on command, but she does have a very special fishy talent all of her own .

Evolution can be a difficult concept to explain to children, but this amusing picture book presents it beautifully. He went to art school in Liverpool and has since worked as a typographer for design and advertising agencies. He was the Children’s Laureate from 2007-2009 and has published over 200 books for children and adults, including the recent bestseller Many Different Kinds of Love and On The Move.

Michael Rosen was born into a London Jewish family, the son of two distinguished educators – Connie and Harold Rosen. Part of the series of books that includes Bilal’s Brilliant Bee and Barking for Bagels, Fluff the Farting Fish is a short early reader novel that will delight 6-7 year olds looking for a fun story and a few giggles along the way. Some words had a British slant, some were a bit challenging, but she worked them out and got thru the 80 pages of “Fluffy the Farting Fish” ( her favorite so far) in less than an hour.
