The discs do come off every now and then which is a bit annoying, but weirdly for me they were coming off when the sanding discs were ready to change. Some say that it works really well but is very hard to remove and that the cover is quite fiddly to get off and back on again, especially if it's stuck.
The required sanding speed is dependent on the material and can be optimised through experimentation.
It is just the job, I have had a lot of sanders but none as good as this one, my only complaint is the fitting of the air filter. Anyway the Ryobi died after a couples of hours so I drove straight to Bunnings and replaced it with the Bosch.
