I couldn't believe that they fell in love with one another without enough history as to how and why. This is former best friends nearly lovers turned enemies with second chance to fight for each other, with gangs and dance. You better prepare yourself, if your one to go up against pen then be assured she will put you back into your place. I tried the Academy of Misfits first but I wasn't really drawn into that story or its characters like I have been with Stardom.

I really don't like split timelines like this in romance because I feel like it breaks up the flow of the story and I usually enjoy one timeline more than the other. Some of that is forgivable because this is the first book in a series and it makes sense to save things to reveal and develop in later books. I was loving getting to meet Pen and her guys, Xeno, York, Dax and Zayn trough her flashbacks and all. The transition for past to present took a bit to gel for me but when I got my grove it seemed to flow really well. I mean okay, Xeno is like the lider of the group, but if the guys really love her, how are they so okay with that ultimatum?Here we have that classic drama, that i personally hate, were the heroine and the heroes were friends when younger and started liking each other, but something happens that breaks them apart, and both parts blame and hate each other. A lot of the relationship part of this book took place in flashback chapters because our main characters knew each other as kids. This one really sets us up with the back story and where Pen is at now with the convergence of her past and present.

If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes, and the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you.

It’s dark, it includes a reverse harem and there are many triggers and content warnings that you will need to be aware of. I wasn’t expecting certain things that happened in the book, but that made it so much more interesting. I didn’t really hate the pov switch as much as I hated how the chapter featuring the ‘now’ was all about the MCs being enemies and separated by betrayal and lies. Breakers is book three of this dark gang romance romance and deals with adult themes and some subjects you may find upsetting. pretty addictive, and though it may be a completely ridiculous storyline, it was an ENJOYABLE ridiculous storyline.
