The Brooks Glycerin has been around for 18 editions but this is the first with stability technology. So let’s introduce this technology by starting from the ground up. This has been the case for my Brooks experiences. Once they are broken in they were a dream to run in. If the Glycerin GTS 19 is an indicator of what’s to come, it is only going to strengthen that loyalty. Longtime fans of the Glycerin won’t notice many differences between the new model and the outgoing one, and the max-cushioned experience remains the same. One new feature of the Glycerin this year, though, is the addition of a support version, too—the Glycerin 19 GTS. Fleet Feet runners put some miles in on the Glycerin 19 and Glycerin 19 GTS to see how the new shoes feel on the road. Ultimately, the Glycerin 19 is a good option for any long-distance runner seeking a cushioned and stable ride. Overall, it’s not much different from its predecessors and ranks comparably in comfort and ride. The 19 certainly gets the job done but isn’t a groundbreaking or fantastic trainer. The main disadvantage reported by testers is that this new Glycerin featured less rubber, which translates into more exposed foam and, unfortunately, signs of premature wear. Kaleb: "This is my first pair of Glycerin shoes, and I have been impressed with the upper so far. The 3D Fit Print design provided a secure wrap that was very adaptable to my foot shape. I also appreciated the room in the forefoot, which allowed for toe splay. I did experience some Achilles irritation from the heel collar, but this problem dissipated after a short break-in period. I also found the upper to be on the warmer side when I was running in hotter conditions." Sure you could find more cushioning or responsiveness in a max stability trainer, but I doubt you will find one that is a more comfortable and smoother ride than the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19. This does two things: first, it increases the flexibility of the shoe and second, it isn’t as durable. They showed some wear after 75 miles, not drastic wear, but noticeable. There is a simplified look to the upper which means fewer 3d printed overlays. Because of this there are no points of irritation for your feet.This is our first lab-tested shoe. We are starting to put hard numbers to everything we can test on a pair of shoes, from the softness of the midsole and outsole, the force it takes to flex and bend the shoe, slip resistance of the laces, where they fall on the minimalist index, and so much more. Of all the max-cushioned trainers, the Glycerin is the shoe that receives the most minimal of updates, every year. Brooks engineered the Glycerin for the softest ride by using a bed of its DNA Loft cushioning. The super-soft foam feels like a spa day for your feet, making it a great choice for long runs or recovery days.

Kaleb: "There is a small yet noticeable spring in the DNA LOFT midsole. The energy return is not as explosive as other daily training shoes, but given the level of comfort and smooth transitions, I was more than pleased with the ride of the Glycerin. I was able to use these shoes for a variety of runs, but given the lower energy return, I would recommend them for longer or recovery runs."
