Description

With flavours of ripe apricot, succulent melon and roasted nectarine, this Cognac is best enjoyed neat but works equally well in classic and celebratory cocktails. Or simply over ice with tonic, cider or ginger ale, garnished with a twist of lime, cucumber or rosemary. This blend of more than twenty eaux-de-vie is the reflection of the House’s style: fruit driven, light wood influence, broad aromatic profile and velvety mouthfeel. However there's a playful element to this one and Hine encourage us to experiment, serving with different foods, at different temperatures and with different mixers, even tonic and ginger ale.

The house of Hine stands on the banks of the River Charente and, it is in its dark, ancient cellars that their unrivalled collection of cognac reserves gently age in mature oak casks under the supervision of Hine's Cellar Master, Eric Forget. Hine owns 80 acres of vines in Grande Champagne that supply 20% of their Grande Champagne needs, allowing a strict control from field to bottle. In 1962 we were granted the Royal Warrant by Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, making Hine the official supplier of cognac to the British monarchy.

There are some very serious Cognacs from this house, and the pedigree is evident in 'H by Hine' too, having been well blended from some special parcels from the two Champagnes, Cognac's best sub-regions. Hine selects its eau-de-vie exclusively from the top Crus of grande and Petite Champagne in the very heart of the Cognac region. Here, the aim is not to mask the flavours with dominant woody tones, but to enhance them as part of a delicate exchange between the eau-de-vie and oak staves.

The house is one of the few to regularly release vintage Cognacs, aged in the cellar until they are ready for bottling. The General Wine Company sources wines from all over the world, but with a particular focus on small, independent producers. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Their expertise ensures that the original, delicate flavour from the grapes persists through the distilling, ageing and blending process. Add as a surprising twist to a punch when too many friends show up with very little time, or simply drizzle over a fresh peach salad. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. Created in 1763, Hine is proudly one of the oldest houses in the Cognac region and is named after Thomas Hine of Dorset. On the palate it has a great backbone of natural almond character with hints of orange rind and a long developing nutty finish.

Founded more than 250 years ago, Hine creates the highest quality Cognacs, respecting the Maison's heritage and terroir.

The House of Hine creates its identity from the heart of two Premier Crus, the Grande and the Petite Champagnes.
