Gealterte Rums sind mittlerweile zum Aushängeschild des Landes geworden und es ist sogar gesetzlich vorgeschrieben, dass Rum mindestens zwei Jahre lang altern muss. Der Pampero Aniversario kam 1963 erstmals auf den Markt, anlässlich des 25-jährigen Jubiläums der Pampero Destillerie. Durch die 12 Jahre lange Reifung in Bourbon-Fässern besticht der Pampero Aniversario durch besonders harmonische, ausgewogene Aromen. Aroma: Süßes Karamell, Honig und tropische Früchte. Dahinter eine elegante Würze und ein Hauch Eichentöne. Taste: Not as sweet as is often written, but definetely not dry. It's somewhere in the middle. Overall, it is less substantial and more watery. Again, you can smell alcohol quite strongly, even after a few minutes of evaporation. After drinking, you can smell vanilla, caramel, raisins, dark cocoa or very bitter chocolate, dried cherries and smoky wood at the end on the tongue and palate. The finish is so bitter-sweet. Záver je trochu kratší ako normálne preferujem, no celkom zaujímavý, taký sladkasto-korenistý, trochu aj za dubom a tabakom. Se recomienda servirlo ligeramente frío, a una temperatura de alrededor de 18-20°C. The Pampero rums have quite a unique nose. I’ve heard of Dominican rums having a certain “twang” to them. I feel the Pamperos also have a unique aroma. In some ways it is quite light and buttery – similar to aged Cuban rums but at the same time there is a richness to the nose as well. It isn’t fruity but it is rich. There is a sweet note almost like dark chocolate. It’s a pleasant nose which suggests good ageing and there is a light oak to the nose which is well balanced. It is all coming together very nicely. Závěr je trochu kratší než normálně preferuji, ale docela zajímavý, tak nasládle-kořeněný, trochu i za dubem a tabákem. The rum is very smooth and easy to sip. There is little by way of any alcohol burn and it really does coat the taste buds with rich deep flavours. It reminds me very much of a good high cocoa content dark chocolate. Sweet yet slightly bitter with occasional hints of fruity flavour. The aged spirit gives a little smokiness and a slightly woody or perhaps leathery finish. In Dave Brooms book “Rum” he refers to one rum as “like old leather armchairs”. I kind of get that kind of vibe with this rum.

Il y a une fiche sur le Matusalem 23 dans le livre 120 rhums d’Alexandre Vingtier avec un texte très riche sur Matusalem ; Chez Christian de Montaguère, j’en ai discuté avec Jerry Gitany et il m’a proposé de faire découvrir ce Pampero Aniversario qui n’est vraiment pas cher. Un ron de conception hispanique, sucrée et très accessible en dégustation également. Même si ce n’est pas un grand rhum, c’est une très belle entrée en matière pour découvrir le rhum.
