With quick cyclic switching between different color tones, an illusion for a new intermediate color tone is created. There's clouding across the entire screen, and the LED backlights bleed along the bottom edge, which can be distracting in a dark room. So, if you’re a professional designer who also likes to play video games casually, the Dell U2718Q is definitely for you. Aside from some slight differences in their outer design and the added USB-C ports on the U2720Q, both monitors offer identical features.

Some prefer a minimum screen size of 30 inches or more at this resolution, but 27 is fine by me, with Windows 10 scaling well at 150 per cent, and the amount of desktop real estate is a real boon for multitasking. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. The buttons have good tactile feedback and the menus are generally easy to navigate, but the interface isn't as intuitive as the rocker joystick found on many LG and Samsung monitors. Each monitor features a factory calibration report that guarantees colour correctness, so you can trust your projects reflect true colour intensity. Dell HDR* combines greater depth of colours, remarkable clarity and a high contrast range of shades to create strikingly realistic images.

So to see if it’s worth it, I took a look at the lower-end version that covers only 75 percent of the Adobe RGB color space and 99.

Due to its quick response time speed and low input lag, it’s also an awesome option for casual gaming. Customise your view with a fully adjustable stand that tilts, swivels, and rotates 90° clockwise or counter-clockwise. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. The LG 27UD68P-B is flicker-free and has better motion handling overall thanks to AMD FreeSync support. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. It has decent accuracy out of the box and wide viewing angles, great for media creation or for sharing the screen with someone else. Unfortunately, it's limited to a 60Hz refresh rate and it doesn't support any advanced gaming features. Adobe RGB coverage is limited by the poor color space coverage and isn't as good as other HDR monitors we've tested, like the Samsung CHG70. The Dell U2718Q has slightly better ergonomics, which makes it easier to place the monitor comfortably while gaming, whereas the LG 27UK650 has marginally better refresh rate since it includes the FreeSync implementation of the variable refresh rate to eliminate tearing. Competing standards have served to muddy the HDR waters, and though the technology is beginning to prove its worth in the latest high-end TVs and projectors, PC monitor manufacturers have been slow to react.

If you want a faster response time, you can set the response time to 'Fast', but this introduces significant overshoot.

If I had to do it again, I would have gotten the BenQ SW2700PT I also recently reviewed because color still matters to me a little more than I planned (but then no one plans for greens to be that bright, either).
