About this deal
For information about how to care for your Henry Filter please see our video on the Henry Bags YouTube Channel.
There is the Henry unit itself with its trademark smiley face; two tool heads - the Combi and the FreeFlo; a black plastic flexible tube; three metal tubes; two dust bags (one of which is already in place); and various cleaning attachments for specific jobs. Approved by the British Allergy Foundation, Henry Allergy is much more than any ordinary vacuum cleaner.Loved by commercial cleaners, builders and home renovators, it’s widely known that if you want serious dirt removal, Henry is your…man?
Equipped with an advanced, three-stage HEPA filtration system, the Henry Allergy can trap particles up to 800 times smaller in width than a human hair. Either you absolutely love them, or you find them too heavy and opt for an alternative design, like a cordless vacuum cleaner. Firstly, there is something to be said about corded vacuums; they are reliable, and if you live in a busy household, you will know all too well the frustration of going to use the vacuum only to realise it has little to no charge left on it. She lives in Devon with her cabinetmaker husband, two daughters and many pets, and is locked in an on-going battle to drag their red brick Victorian home out of 1970s swirly-carpet hell. Please note that details and specifications contained herein, are correct at the time of publishing.
It’s also important to make sure the floorhead is on the carpet setting (there’s a rocker switch you can do with your foot) as this will provide smoother traction across the surface, without making you sweat. In rooms where we have a mixture of wooden and floors and rugs, the Combi Floor Tool is best placed to move easily from harder to softer surfaces.
Usually, I would opt for a cordless stick vacuum because, with modern living, convenience is key, and let's be honest, there's nothing convenient about being connected to the only free plug socket in the house. And whilst it was super easy to empty, just shut the lid and all the mess was contained, then it can be thrown in the rubbish bin. The HVA 160 vacuum cleaner, thanks to its triple filtration level, offers better quality of the exhaust air and therefore complies with this new regulation. There’s also the standard floor head in the box, with a foot-switch to move from carpet to hard floor modes, plus a dedicated head for hard floors. The floorhead latches on at the back of the vacuum, keeping the hose and pipes in an upright position, so you’ll need a tall storage space. Not least because we deliberately cut back on low level wall sockets when we renovated, only positioning them where needed for a lamp or computer etc. Admittedly it is corded but being tethered to the wall is worth it for the raw suction power in play. The charity considers that, when used correctly, ‘this vacuum reduces exposure to house dust mite allergen and cat allergen’. According to Numatic, this three-pronged filter approach means the Henry Allergy traps particles up to 800 times smaller than the width of human hair.
Coupled with this NVR170 has a handy shaped handle that allows you to easily carry the NVR170 with the wand on top of the handle as per the below photo.Allergy UK is at pains to clarify, though, ‘an individual’s exposure can be reduced, but this does not mean that individual’s allergic symptoms will necessarily diminish’. They’re too light and there’s also no motorised brushhead, which comes as standard on 99% of the vacuums I’ve tested. The vacuum arrived in a large box, but much to my delight, most of the packaging was easily recyclable. There is a handy tool tidy on the back of the main unit - although it doesn’t house all of the tools sadly.
