De buen principio, su despegue narrativo plantea una situación misteriosa e inquietante, que enseguida deriva en el rescate de un gatito (Mandarino, el que será el habitante de la casa de la familia posteriormente); construyendo un desarrollo simple a la par que encantador y coherente, para introducir la vida de la chica y su entorno, así como a el resto de sus ayudantes felinos: Missy, Figaro y Katsumo, que irán apareciendo conforme se va adentrando al lector en el nudo de la aventura. Si a eso le sumamos su mensaje final, el de la acogida de un animal abandonado a su suerte en la calle, y lo que ello representa, la historia se convierte en una auténtica delicia por tierna, disfrutable y ágil.
