Pony League World Series

Thru Aug. 18/WASHINGTON – While the Little League World Series gets all of the attention, it’s not the only major baseball tournament held in Pennsylvania. The Pony League World Series is the only one of the two allowing outside visitors to watch the games. Somerset County Fair

Aug. 19-28/MEYERSDALE – The 121th annual Somerset County Fair is one of the largest and best livestock shows in Pennsylvania. Enjoy nightly entertainment in the grandstand or ride a few amusement rides on the midway. Harness racing is scheduled NEW this year on Thursday and Friday. You won’t want to miss the Bake Sale Auction with apple pie, angel food cake, and lots of chocolate goodies on the menu or the Rafter Z Rodeo! Admission is $10 per person.

Picklesburgh

Aug. 20-22/DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH – Noon to 10 p.m. 1st 2 days and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Picklesburgh is the destination for all things pickled! Twice voted the #1 Specialty Food Festival in the Country. Offering handcrafted food and artisan drinks featuring pickled ingredients from local chefs, restaurants, and more embracing the farm-to-table movement. Plus, don’t miss pickle-themed snacks and merchandise, fun contests, and live music. Admission is free. The annual pickle juice drinking contest is a popular fun event.

Mars Exploration Celebration

Aug. 27-28/MARS – 5-10 p.m. Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. Located downtown. Break out the noisemakers, confetti, and your best New Year’s Eve regalia because it’s time to celebrate New Year’s for the planet Mars. Highlighting innovation and exploration, the two-day Mars Exploration Celebration is filled with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fun the whole family will enjoy! Dance Friday evening to the music of Dancing Queen. A Firefly Drone Show will be featured afterward. Participate in the Mars costume contest Saturday afternoon. Heads Up Style Drag Races

Sept. 12/St. MARYS – Enjoy the rev of engines and squeal of tires at St. Marys Airport as cars race down the airport runway in Heads Up Style Drag Races. Whoever crosses the finish line first is the winner and entitled to full bragging rights at this “controlled street race on the runway.” Gates open at 10 a.m. and race time is from noon to 5 p.m.  Cost is $10 at gate, $25 per carload, and $25 to race. Proficts benefit St. Marys Airport.

Covered Bridge Festival

Sept. 18-19//GREENE – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  Arts & Crafts, food, entertainment, demonstrations, special activities and exhibits. There will be festivities at 10 historic covered bridge locations in the Washington and Greene Counties. A celebration of rich histories and beautiful countrysides during this 50th annual event can be enjoyed Each location offers a charming atmosphere and an array of historical re-enactments, horse-drawn wagon rides and more. The Covered Bridge Festival is regarded as a signature event in the area and the official start to the Fall season. Admission and Parking are Free.
