Amish Country

Holmes County in northeastern Ohio has been home to the Amish Country Theater which opened to provide entertainment for groups visiting the area. As a result of growing success, the theater is moving into a brand-new venue in the town of Berlin this spring. The new venue will nearly double the theater’s seating capacity, offering room for 600 guests along with a sloped floor and state-of-the-art theater technology. The theater will feature shows six days a week, with weekend concert series and other special events. The new theater is one of three adjacent parts in the development project, which will also feature the new Berlin Encore Hotel and Suites. The hotel will have 81 guest rooms and will feature rustic decor, exposed beams and fireplaces. Also connected to the theater and hotel will be Encore Hall, a 16,000-square-foot event center.

LANCASTER – You will always find something new at the Ohio Glass Museum as  exhibitions of glass items are changed throughout the year. The current exhibit,  “A Very Private Collection,” features glass from 1875-1920.  A mixed arrangement of seldom seen and very rare pieces of glass on loan from the collector will be in the OGM Gallery to dazzle the viewer.  Multiple pieces of glass donated to OGM  will be displayed in other cabinets in appreciation of the donor’s efforts to preserve our glass heritage. The museum collections will rotate in and out during other displays on loan throughout the coming years. If you missed some of our past exhibits, we will still have examples of what was shown since our opening day. Glass pieces blown and designed in the studio are for sale in the OGM Gift Shop. They are great for unique gifts for that special person.

SANDUSKY – It’s the Tallest, Fastest, and the Wildest: Breaking yet another new set of records, Cedar Point Introduces an entirely new classification of “Hyper-Hybrid” Roller Coaster. FrontierTown will be transformed when Steel Vengeance opens this spring. Steel Vengeance will also debut the first-of-its-kind “Twisted Snake Dive.” In this new maneuver, the coaster’s train will enter a half-barrel roll, hang upside-down for a brief moment and then turn back in the direction of travel, not completing a full roll. The coaster’s figure-eight layout will create a fast-paced journey with multiple airtime hills, twists and dives, overbanked turns and surprise maneuvers. The entire ride will last approximately 2 minutes, 30 seconds.  >MORE
