Oct 26/ANN ARBOR – ypsiGLOW is an annual community event that’s part costume party, part parade, part art installation, part dance break, and everyone’s invited, better-together fun time. Glow forth! Costumes can be anything glow-in-the-dark, anything that lights up, tinsel, glitter, or anything that works with a black light. This year’s theme is Take Flight! Don’t fight the urge to dress up as a glowing flying squirrel, lightning bug, or Willow Run bomber. The glowing procession leads downtown, culminating in a dance party (with airborne DJs?!) on Washington Street! Dance in the light of video projections, giant luminaries, and lasers. We’re a community that loves to cut loose!
On the Famous Pumpkin Train
Oct. 27-28/COOPERSVILLE – Passengers are entertained during this journey by The Grand Pumpkin, Scarecrow and Little Crow. This cast of wacky characters will sing and dance for you in your railcar during the 90-minute journey through family-owned farms and fields. At the end of the ride, all kids go to the track-side pumpkin patch to pick their very own, locally-grown pumpkin. There is nothing aboard the trains that would scare any children. It is a harvest celebration. Each paid child’s ticket includes a free, locally grown, good-sized Pumpkin that the kids can pick from our Pumpkin Patch at the end of the ride. Children under 2 yrs ride free and also get a small size Pumpkin. The Coopersville & Marne Railway’s train cars are almost 100 years old. They were built between 1919-1932 and are all decorated to celebrate the fall harvest.
