Vertigo Bungee Jumping
May 21-23/LAWRENCeBURG – In the shadows of the Wild Turkey distillery, spanning the Kentucky River, you’ll find Young’s High Bridge, a railroad bridge built more than 100 years ago that is now a permanent bungee jumping platform. Adventurous folks from all over come here one weekend a month, May through October, to bungee jump toward the river 240 feet below. It’s an experience like no other, and one you won’t find anywhere else in the eastern United States. Friday jumps begin at noon. Saturday jump times are 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday jumps are at 10 a.m. Advance registration required online at vertigobungee.net
Somernites Cruise Car Show
May 22/SOMERSET – Noon to 6 p.m.at Fountain Square. Enjoy a relaxed, family oriented atmosphere throughout downtown Somerset. The “Show and Shine” portion of the event lasts from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. “Cruising the Strip” begins at 6 p.m. Each cruise season, Somernites Cruise features several classic car raffles and giveaways. Throughout the year, raffle tickets are sold at the show and online for a chance to win Somernites’ Official Classic Raffle Car, a Gatormade car trailer, or a Classic Pickup Truck! W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival
June 16-19/HENDERSON – The festival held at Audubon Mill Park is a celebration of the life and legacy of Henderson resident and “Father of the Blues,” William Christopher Handy. The Henderson Music Preservation Society has officially announced the lineup for Year 30. The festival is one of the longest-running free blues music festivals in the nation, featuring top blues acts, delicious food, a picturesque venue, and our famous Henderson hospitality. One of the groups performing during the festival, Chicago Plays the Stones, will be playing all Rolling Stones songs, which in turn helped make the Blues genre so popular. Local food vendors will be selling delicious Henderson BBQ.
