I won't spoil the details of the confession, other than to say that Touko knew, for a long time, or at least highly suspected that Sayaka liked her. Nice melodramatic teenage angst, like: the very first person I said "I love you" to didn't love me back so now there is no chance of me ever having love in my life, you know, EVER, even over the next 60+ years. The other major aspect of this volume that I want to highlight is some very strong writing, both characters and dialogue. Adaption, editing and lettering are all top notch, which means you’ll never notice them, but kudos to Jenn Grunigen, Julie Davis and CK Russell and I’m thrilled to see a proofreader, Danielle King. We end on, well, not a cliffhanger per se, but a flurry of activity and emotion that has me dying for the conclusion.

To be honest, I was quite surprised by how much I liked this volume, and it totally held up on a second reading as well. I personally do not think this would have happened if they did not take this time away from one another. LGBTQ+ representation (0-5): 2 - I'm going to give this some extra loving because of the flashback with Hakozaki-sensei and Miyako that really feels like adult lesbians that exist in the real world and not just fantasy yuri decontextualized from society. I want desperately to give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you ask me what stories like this are out there, you will remove all doubt as to your fetish and I find that grotesque. But with Yuu confessing to Touko in volume 6, there was a lot of hands thrown up, essentially saying: "Well there you go, she wasn't aromantic/asexual, she just hadn't finished developing her sexual awakening" or "it just took the right person" or "I knew it was too good to be true that we'd get aromantic/asexual representation. Sayaka's own journey and subsequent confession in this was both heartbreaking and so inspiring at the same time (งಥ_ಥ)ง The climax in this volume is the climax of the entire series, and I'm ready for the happy ending!

I started reading this coz the anime left things at a very awkward stage and I'm so glad I did because the way the story progressed is better than what I expected. It's good to have a character like Maki for representation, someone who is so completely asexual/aromantic that there is no mistaking it. Every other choice makes a woman “unpure” which is why I loathe the concept of purity as a value of a woman’s worth that is still prevalent in this world. Y me ha encantado ese vistazo a la profe y su pareja, esa especie de homenaje a las personas mentoras que comparten su experiencia con quienes vienen después al sentirse identificadas por las dudas y las situaciones. I also love the scene at the end of the first chapter in this volume, where Yuu throws herself down on her bed, head buried in her arms, and says: "I just don't know and I guess I probably never will. And as long as there is "the true essence" of the other that made her fall in love first, changes will not represent the end of her feeling. I love how determined Sayaka was in confessing her feelings to Touko and didn’t react any differently to Touko after getting a response to her confession.

For anyone that’s looking for a good romance comic that defies expectations and is relatively chaste, Bloom Into You is a good choice. We knew from previous volumes that Miyako was the first woman Hakozaki was with and that she had dated men before. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Sayaka just laughs at how cute they are together (in the middle of Hakozaki-sensei berating Miyako) and Hakozaki-sensei gets all flustered. After Yuu's confession in the last volume, we see both Yuu and Touko struggling with the aftermath and their true feelings.Yuu has always loved shoujo manga and fantasizes about the day that she too will get a love confession that will send her heart a-flutter. prose/writing (0-10): 8 - I think some of Touko and Sayaka's interactions and how Yuu is depicted a bit like a sulking, petulant, emotional wreck even within her tightly controlled unemotional self demonstrates some really fine writing of teen characters. There's an adorable scene where Hakozaki-sensei is yelling at Miyako for hanging out with one of Hakozaki-sensei's students (it was Sayaka).
