Winter Spirit

Thru Jan. 2/LEWISTON – Ignite the holidays with Winter Spirit! The community lights up with interactive displays and dancing trees in Locomotive Park. A large gas fireplace warms visitors and the area is filled with a rainbow of lights. This holiday tradition uses over a half million lights making Locomotive Park a spectacular site to visit. Park hours: Fireplace Sun. – Thurs. 5:30 – 8 p.m. & Fri – Sat. 5:30 -10 p.m. Park Lights: Mon.-Tue. 4:30 – 10 p.m.; Wed. – Sun. 4:30 – Midnight; 5-7 a.m. mornings. Today… the Winter Spirit Committee oversees an army of volunteers and manages a budget (funded fully from individual donations and area business sponsorships) to bring this amazing display to life. Winter Wonderland Festival, Sun Valley

Dec. 8-31/SUN VALLEY – The lights turn on December 1st signaling a month filled with festivities. Stroll through an enchanted village sparkling with holiday cheer and listen to holiday carolers. Kids can enjoy a scavenger hunt through the decorated store fronts. Check the website for details on all the holiday events. “Snow Globe” Window Stroll & Scavenger Hunt  – Scavenger hunt with ornament prizes – be a part of the fun! Collect all ten scavenger hunt cards at the Sun Valley Village locations – participating stores will have “Sunny – The Bear” doing an activity, along with a number indicated in each retail location. Match Sunny’s activity with the scavenger hunt card, then once the card is complete, take it to the Sun Valley Guest Center for your prize (may be collected at the concierge desk in the Sun Valley Lodge after hours). On Dec. 19 enjoy the Sun Valley Serenade at the Sun Valley Opera House | 2:00 pm | FREE Catch a screening of Sun Valley Serenade (1941) in the iconic Opera House. Sonja Henie, John Payne and Milton Berle star in this madcap musical adventure on and off the mountain. Music by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, featuring such classic hits “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, “In the Mood” and “It Happened in Sun Valley.”
