Description

Expect to use these lights for a while as they’re rated at 25,000 hours of operation. They’re only for indoor use though, and come with a three-year warranty. No.1 I simply cannot do. Sensors cannot be configured to only turn on during certain hours, which basically leaves me with two options: However, let’s hope that the situation won’t come to that and you will have an effortless experience while trying to reset the system. It will only take a bit of effort on your end.

There are several important points that make choosing Wiz a better option. The first obvious difference to the regular consumer is pricing. Wiz caters to customers who have only begun to adapt smart home technology, or long-time users on a budget. As the amount needed to invest in Philips Wiz is substantially lower than the Hue, it’s a great choice for newcomers. It would be nice if I could differ the intensity based on time of day, so that triggering at night only turned on "night light". The Wiz Company originally started out as an independent Hong Kong based French-Asian Lighting software solutions company. Established in 2015, its founders have been involved in designing various lighting products since 2004. Over the years, the company has continuously employed highly-skilled engineers in pursuit of the perfect smart lighting solutions. Like all Wiz light bulbs, this model doesn’t require a smart hub to operate, though it will easily sync with an existing network. It’s compatible with Google Assistant, Alexa, and Siri Shortcuts. HomeKit users will have a bit of a problem, as Wiz isn’t compatible.

Customer reviews

The lights are made for indoor use, and have been tested to last for up to 25,000 operating hours. Philips offers a three-year warranty on this product for any manufacturing defects. At about 650 Lumens, you can place several of these lights to highlight particular spots in a room. At only about 7.2 Watts of energy consumption, despite giving off the brightness of a 65 Watt bulb, you don’t have to worry about using up too much electricity. Grouping a few of these bulbs with a main light can transform even the most boring rooms. The occupancy sensors will only be added once a motion event is detected. Home Assistant can detect the sensors if they turn on at least one device when the room is occupied, and turn off at least one device when the room is not occupied. Sensors that are not linked to a device cannot be detected.

USER FRIENDLY APP - The free WiZ Connected app is intuitive, user-friendly and includes ready to go presets so that you can begin using your lights immediately. Smart lighting is enjoyable and easy with WiZ.

It's really the inability to create schedules for the sensors that's the biggest issue, that and being able to return to "previous mode". The latter would at least allow setting up a schedule for the room and have it return to prior state (be it off or nightlight) after the duration. Even if you have successfully paired the bulbs with your Wi-Fi, deciding to place them out of range would make your remote, as well as the bulb, not work at all. As with all Philips Wiz Lights, you don’t even need a hub to start using a smart lighting setup. Just connect them to your Wi-Fi, group the lights via the mobile app, and you’re done. Alexa and Google Assistant users can sync these lights to any existing smart network. Siri users are going to have to rely on Siri Shortcuts however, as there is no native HomeKit compatibility. Devices linked to the occupancy sensor that was last controlled manually will show an unknown at startup. The state will be known the next time the light is controlled by the sensor.
