YOU CAN READ MY IN-DEPTH REVIEW OF THE BEST FUJI LENS FOR TRAVEL Fuji 23mm f2 Weight and Compact Size Now for a closer look at the latest 23 1.,4 on the left and the compact 23 f2 on the right as again I’m eliminating the old 23 from close examination due to a potentially bad copy. Obviously the shape of the blobs is much different, and I’d say the f2 model on the right is also exhibiting more outlining and clearer textures within, although the premium 1.4 on the left doesn’t manage to avoid these artefacts entirely. And that’s why I think this will be the most thorough and hands-on Fuji XF 23mm f/2 lens review you’re going find on the web. But of course, they’re all different (that’s why Fuji makes them). So to narrow it down, here are the deciding factors to consider:

If this 1,200×900 pixel crop is about 6" (15cm) wide on your screen, then the complete image printed at this same high magnification would be about 21 × 31" (1.7 × 2.6 feet or 50 × 80 cm). The f1.4 is also great for portrait photography, especially in studios. The extra bokeh may also provide stunning shots of events such as weddings. Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 vs. XF 23mm f/1.4 Final VerdictEven though I’ll still reach for an f1.4 lens when I really need that look, the reality is that it’s not necessary every day. If I’m out and about, the 23mm lens is the one I’ll put in my bag. Almost at the end of our journey, in May 2019, we were in Hoi An, Vietnam. This town is well known for its tailoring and the lampshades which hang everywhere. My wife wanted to visit a class, where she can make her own lampshade. I decided to go on a walk through the town to do street photography intentionally. While walking around the streets I forget everything around me. I like this feeling a lot. When I get a good shot, I am very happy, and the whole day was worth the travel and walking.

Pros – Great Color, Great Contrast, Good Micro Contrast, Fast AF, Weather Sealed, Well Corrected, Small and light The XF 23mm 1.4 R weighs 10.58 oz / 300 g, so the weight saving is not huge when compared to the 6.35 oz / 180 g for the XF 23mm f/2 R WR. The aperture has 9 rounded blades, with its closest focusing distance of 8.66″ (22 cm) minimum focus distance. Producing excellent image quality. All in all, I can say that street photography changed my style and passion for photography big time. Finally, I found a genre in photography that I can do everywhere at any time. The Fuji X-T3 with the 23mm F2 WR is a system I can rely on in any occasions: bright sunny days, cloudy days, rainy days and at night.

Fujifilm XF 23mm f2 R WR Lens Video:

The 23mm f2, much like the other lenses in the series, is built to be weather and dust-resistant. So it can withstand being in light rain or strong winds. It can also shoot in temperatures of up to -10°C, making it the perfect accessory on any winter trip. The reality is, both of these lenses will give you stunning, sharp photos with great bokeh. The real question is whether you are looking for something that is also a wide angle lens or not, and your budget. The 23mm f1.4 is definitely in the upper price range when it comes to Fuji lenses.

Note the f/1.4 has a nice clutch mechanism manual focus ring which is very smooth and is easier to set to infinity focus. So let’s make a closer comparison between the latest 23 1.4 LM WR on the left and the compact 23 f2 on the right, with one stop of aperture between them. Here you can see the shallower depth of field from the 1.4 lens on the left as you’d expect, but possibly as striking is the resulting busy-ness of the bokeh from the 23 f2 on the right. This is partly down to the premium model having a flatter field as in these distant examples I’m focused in the middle. Focus the compact f2 lens in the corner and you’ll enjoy better sharpness in that region, albeit subsequently at the cost of softer detail in the middle. With a brighter light at closer range, the XF 23mm f2 above left performs noticeably better than it did in my first example, indeed arguably better than the older XF 23mm f1.4 pictured above right. The diffraction spikes from the newer XF 23mm f2 here are a little sharper and better-defined than the older model, delivering an attractive effect. Set your aperture at f8 and focus at 12 feet and the blue depth of field scale at the bottom of the viewfinder shows approxiamtely 6 feet to infinity as being in focus. Just the way it should be. FINALLY! Of course, the depth of field was still in the shot even though the in-camera scale was incorrect but it’s nice to know you can use this scale when setting up your shots moving forward. At its widest point around the aperture ring, the XF 23mm f2 has a maximum diameter of 57mm, but again this tapers beyond the aperture ring to 45mm by the time you reach the 43mm filter thread at the end. Meanwhile the lens barrel measures 52mm in length, making it a fairly compact walk-around lens, albeit not quite in the pancake territory of models like the XF 27mm f2.8. Has a more cinematic look. There’s something about the distance between you and the subject when using a 35mm lens that makes it look like you’re using a film.
