During the wide shot of Two-Face hanging from the ledge before losing his grip, his left hand opens fully. However the seeming unrelation between the stories as well as the fact that about half of them don't have an ending is very unnerving to me, no matter if this is how comic collections usually operate or not. I understand leaving out the Year One storyline in 404-407 as that story has become a phenomenon unto itself that is somehow separate from the rest of Batman lore despite defining so much of it.

This is the first time we get to see these two interact and their clash of personalities is very well written by Starlin.Written by acclaimed mystery velist Max Allan Collins, best kwn for his graphic vel The Road to Perdition, which was made into a Academy Award-winning movie starring Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, and Jude Law. Batman: Second Chances is a collection of some of the earliest post- Crisis stories of Batman (Volume 1). We get a single issue introducing the new villain, The Mime, who would never appear again aside from an Arkham Asylum mini-series published sixteen years later. However, before they can start, thugs suddenly burst in and start firing machine guns into the room. It fully isn't, and the first person/journal pov should have given it away, but the artstyle and storytelling was very similar to golden era stuff so I just worked with that assumption for the longest time.

Batman and Robin split up to nab the criminal behind the scheme to abduct the Dark Knight’s old friend. So mad that when he runs into little shitbag Jason Todd from boosting his Batmobile tires, he decides this bum will make a good Robin. I guess in a way this is the first itteration of Nightwing: Year One, and it's a solid base for what it is.

I also really enjoyed the beginning of that story with that girl that he becomes friends with as Bruce that then gets murdered. This story took a look at a crime in which the victim was someone Batman knew and how his emotions blinded him. There are a couple of stories that have interesting themes, and another issue has Two-Face and Batman facing off in a baseball stadium that's full of painful, yet somehow entertaining, baseball lingo.
