Although I am so proud of you and filled with joy that you are beginning the next chapter in your life, I also feel so very sad because it feels as though I have just lost my best friend.

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but from the age of three I grew up in Stamps, Arkansas, with my paternal grandmother, Annie Henderson, and my father’s brother, Uncle Willie, and my only sibling, my brother, Bailey. Keep in mind, your first draft (as in all things written) doesn’t have to be perfect. Look at it as something to work with. Show them you’re better than that and don’t stoop to their level. Everybody goes through their trials and tribulations. Unfortunately, this horrible beast that is devouring your body and spirit has forced me into a position where I can’t do more, I can only watch you losing your life.

He was everything I never thought I’d get. He was the type of guy I believed existed only in movies. Dear Daughter, life shows us many ups and downs. We have to go through many hardships every day.
