Warm sunny days and refreshing nights — fall is in full swing in Greater Palm Springs. Now and as the gorgeous winter season approaches, there are so many reasons to venture outdoors in our Oasis, which offers an extraordinary array of activities for adventure lovers. Below are a few of our favorites:
Adding to its exciting fast track options, the BMW Performance Center West in Thermal is now offering a mini motoring school featuring the John Cooper Works Hardtop 2 Door model. The fun involves revving up on a road course in a sport suspension vehicle with low-profile tires. Mini Motoring School classes are exclusively featured at the Thermal Center; yet another reason to visit Greater Palm Springs.
Get your fitness on and enjoy the sensational scenery cycling along canyon washes and mountain ridges via Big Wheel Tours’ half-day customized mountain biking tour. Expert guides tailor the group biking adventure for all skill levels. Great perk: hotel drop-off and pickup from many area resorts.
Put on a helmet, fasten your seatbelts and experience the road trip of a lifetime when you book EagleRider Motorcycle Rentals and Tours’ Palm Springs Slingshot Tour. During this self-drive tour in the open-air, three-wheel Polaris® Slingshot® (two-person capacity), you’ll drive an incredibly panoramic loop beginning at EagleRider’s facility near downtown Palm Springs up through the Palms to Pines Scenic Byway and into the artsy, mile-high town of Idyllwild. The one-day tour covers approximately 107 miles (171.2 km).
Is it golf or is it soccer? FootGolf is actually a hybrid of the two — it’s great fun and growing in popularity. A phenomenal sports and team building activity, participants use regulation soccer balls on a traditional golf course with 21-inch diameter cups. Greater Palm Springs is home to five FootGolf courses, the American FootGolf League, and the second annual U.S. FootGolf National Championship 2017. Open to the public, the championship is scheduled to take place November 10-12 at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert.
Outdoor adventure options don’t stop here! In addition to the above, Greater Palm Springs has more than 155 hiking trails in the destination (www.hikingingps.com), nearby Joshua Tree National Park and other national monuments, state parks, a desert zoo, and pristine conservation areas to explore. Plus golf, tennis, swimming, horseback riding, rock climbing, jeep and Hummer sightseeing tours, ATV experiences, hot air balloon excursions and much, much more.
