From a technical standpoint, Ektar is most sensitive to blue as opposed to all other colours on the spectrum, therefore the boosted cool tones that will often be noticed when using this film. The weather was very much the same over those few days: clear blue skies with only a very small hint of cloud if you looked really hard. We were only in Greece for three days, so I more or less shot one day with Ektar, and one day with Portra.

Shadow recovery is also less impressive than films like Portra 160, so be aware of this when shooting. I found that the film’s tendency to accent those elements often takes the attention away from the intended accent point.Of course, that same property could be used to deliberately enhance certain visual elements in your photographs. An easy way to get excellent results with Ektar is to photograph scenes that aren’t busy, with minimal textures/fine contrast, perhaps overexposed by one stop. Ektar works very much like E6 film and is meant to be shot at 100 and looks great at that rating while Portra is known to be a film that can be shot all over the place in terms of exposure.Also the photos were not scanned with a professional scanner but you could see the saturated colours.
